The Head of Fund Accounting & Treasury - Private Markets is responsible for leading the accounting and treasury function across the firm’s institutional private markets platform, including real estate, private equity, and private credit.
This role oversees both the in-house accounting oversight team, third-party fund administrators, and treasury operations. The role works collaboratively across the organization to support investment decisions, provide sound accounting guidance on complex transactions, control operating costs, and build scalable infrastructure to support business growth.
What we are we looking for:
The Head of will lead and manage the in-house accounting oversight team responsible for private market investments.
Responsibilities include:
Acting as the subject matter expert for the team and providing sound accounting guidance on complex transactions, including deal structuring, valuation, and fair value accounting.
Overseeing relationships with third-party fund administrators, ensuring service quality, timeliness, and compliance.
Establishing appropriate internal oversight review procedures, taking into consideration operational efficiencies, risk areas, and materiality thresholds.
Implementing and monitor controls, KPIs, and performance metrics to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with expectations and SLAs.
Developing and maintain accounting policies and procedures tailored to private markets.
Overseeing treasury management activities performed internally and externally.
Liaising and coordinating with the corporate office, ensuring efficient, accurate, and timely flow of information, effective accounts payable/receivable management, and proactive risk management.
Overseeing auditor selections and relationships; serve as escalation point.
Ensuring alignment between investment objectives and accounting treatment, including implications for financial reporting, tax, and investor communications.
Participating in private markets-wide initiatives and integration.
Partnering with legal, tax, and operations teams to evaluate transaction risks and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
Contributing to cost control initiatives by identifying process improvements and optimizing resource allocation.
Supporting the development of infrastructure, systems, and processes to scale business growth and complexity, including SOC-1 readiness, implementation, and internal/external audit coordination for internal fund accounting oversight and treasury operations.
Contributing to RFPs, due diligence and onboarding of new products/clients.
Maintaining an understanding of each fund’s/portfolio’s financial positions, business plans, and KPIs and be able to respond to Board Members, Conducting Officers, key internal stakeholders, and client questions where applicable.
Building and leading a high-performing accounting team with expertise in private markets.
Fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.
Providing mentorship and training to develop technical and leadership capabilities within the team.
What you can bring:
Progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in private markets (especially real estate and private credit).
Deep understanding of fund structures, investment accounting, and valuation methodologies.
Experience managing both internal accounting teams and third-party administrators.
Proven ability to collaborate across functions and influence strategic decision-making.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
