Job Summary
The Senior Engineer – Marine I & C serves as a technical specialist and primary customer support contact, responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and executing complex repairs on marine engine and power systems at customer sites. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong customer engagement skills, and the ability to lead field service activities while ensuring safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with customers, ensuring prompt and effective response to service needs.
- Diagnose and perform complex mechanical and electrical repairs at customer sites using specialized tools, electronic service equipment, and documented procedures.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on engines and related marine systems according to established standards.
- Escalate unresolved or complex technical issues to product specialists or supervisors while ensuring clear documentation of findings.
- Coach, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior technicians and apprentices; may assign work and review repair plans or parts lists.
- Complete service documentation including worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality records using digital systems or manual forms.
- Identify additional service and sales opportunities during customer interactions and communicate them appropriately.
- Maintain service vehicles, tools, and diagnostic equipment in safe and operational condition.
- Complete required technical and safety training aligned with business and skill development needs.
- Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and promptly report incidents or hazards.

Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Vocational diploma or certification from a recognized technical institution in mechanical, marine, electrical, or related field.
- Apprentice-trained engine technician certification preferred.
- Valid local driving license required.
- May require licensing related to export controls or sanctions compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills & Experience
General (Internal & External Candidates)
- Significant field service experience supporting engine or power generation products.
- Expert-level knowledge of engine systems and associated mechanical and electrical components.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills using electronic service tools and technical documentation.
- Experience performing complex repairs and preventive maintenance in field environments.
- Strong customer service and communication skills in high-demand service situations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple service priorities.
- Experience documenting technical work accurately for service, warranty, and historical records.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and guide junior technicians (preferred).
Additional Scope for Internal Candidates (Marine & Controls Focus)
- Experience in installation, commissioning, testing, and sea trials of marine engine systems.
- Hands-on experience in marine applications, including propulsion and auxiliary power systems.
- Knowledge of marine controls, electrical panels, paralleling systems, and transient/load trials.
- Strong CRM system experience to effectively manage high-demand marine customers and service records.
