The Fixed Income Division is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manages risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. The Commodities Division is a market leader in energy, metals, and agricultural product trading worldwide whose professionals trade in both physical and derivative commodity risk.
Role Description
The E-Rates Sales Analyst/Associate will play a central role in expanding Morgan Stanley’s electronic rates franchise. The individual will support outbound electronic Rates distribution, client engagement, and wallet-optimization efforts across institutional accounts including hedge funds, asset managers, insurance companies, and other market participants.
This role is uniquely suited for someone who is not only commercially minded and client-focused, but also highly analytical—with a demonstrated ability to interpret large datasets, derive actionable insights, and help the desk build scale through improved performance tracking, optimization, and automation. The successful candidate will blend traditional sales coverage with a modern, data-driven approach to business growth.
The individual will work closely with senior salespeople, traders, strats, technology, and support teams to deepen client relationships, enhance our competitive positioning across key venues, and drive adoption of Morgan Stanley’s electronic rates offering.
Key Responsibilities
Client Coverage & Commercial Ownership
- Manage day-to-day relationships with and execute upon scalable coverage model for institutional e-Rates clients.
- Engage with large institutional clients alongside internal Morgan Stanley institutional Rates sales coverage.
- Collaborate on new product rollouts and electronic distribution initiatives to broaden client penetration and increase wallet share.
Business Intelligence & Performance Analytics
- Analyze large amounts of client, venue, and flow data to identify behavior patterns, performance gaps, and commercial opportunities.
- Track the desk’s performance across metrics such as hit rates, response quality, volume trends, and venue-level execution outcomes.
- Produce insights and recommendations that inform strategic decisions around coverage, pricing, technology investment, and client prioritization.
- Work with tech and strat teams to build dashboards, templates, and repeatable processes to scale reporting and enhance transparency for internal and external stakeholders.
Internal Collaboration & Platform Enhancement
- Partner with trading, strats, and technology teams to optimize our algo performance via a client lens.
- Identify operational inefficiencies, propose improvements, and help implement scalable solutions across the e-Rates workflow.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 1-5 years of experience.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in Rates markets, electronic trading, or broader fixed income sales & trading.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with data tools (Python, SQL, etc) is a plus.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and desire to help build and scale a growing business.
Preferred
- Prior experience in a client-facing role within fixed income sales or electronic distribution.
- Strong quantitative aptitude and analytical orientation with the ability to manipulate, interpret, and draw conclusions from large datasets.
- Experience with electronic rates platforms such as Tradeweb, Bloomberg, or comparable venues.
- Understanding of Rates market microstructure and electronic execution workflows.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $125,000 per year for Analyst, and between $150,000 and $200,00 per year for Associate, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
