Job Summary:
Raytheon currently has an exciting IT position available that supports the Raytheon mission of making the world a safer place. We are currently seeking a Linux Systems Administrator that will be working onsite in a highly collaborative, multi-platform and multi–disciplined environment. The Systems Administrator is required to have an active secret security clearance as they will be responsible for deploying and maintaining classified IT infrastructures.
The candidate’s day-to-day activities include but are not limited to: Redhat Linux server management; storage management; file server management; access management; data backup; software and license configuration; and workstation support. Each day in the life of a Systems Administrator can bring something new – building a new IT infrastructure for a group of engineers, restoring files due to an outage, updating virus definitions and security patches, teaming with our brilliant engineers on how to improve their processes, and more.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
You will provide System Administration in a heterogeneous Redhat 7 & 8 Enterprise Linux environment.
Understanding and knowledge of Linux Server internals to include DNS, File sharing protocols, DHCP, AD integration via LDAP, file system structures and permissions.
Working as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment. Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).
Understanding of data backup uses and technologies.
Install and configure software applications requested by end users.
Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.
Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements within 6 months of start date.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Experience with security infrastructure products and capabilities.
Must have experience with Redhat servers and workstations.
Experience using VMware vCenter, vSphere, VDI (Horizon), and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
Must be able to develop solutions and documentation to a variety of technical problems.
Experience with Linux architecture, deployment, administration, performance monitoring/tuning, security hardening, and troubleshooting.
Experience with infrastructure backup, restore, disaster recovery and business continuity products.
Experience with NAS and / or SAN storage capabilities
Experience with application installation and multi-server environment/deployment.
An active DoD Secret clearance is required.
Typically requires, a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience
Qualifications We Value:
An active DoD Top Secret clearance
Scanning using tools such as Nessus and SCAP
Familiarity with High Performance Computing ( HPC ) Environments
Experience with Enterprise Active Directory (AD) & LDAP
Familiarity with Databases including MariaDB, Oracle, and SQL
Experience dealing with Managed Anti-Virus (AV) solutions.
Scripting Experience (Bash, Python, Ansible) and Kickstart
Experience hardening systems using tools like SCAP and following STIGs.
Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
Critical thinking – ability to solve technical problems independently and with collaborative teams.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Technology or related technical discipline and a minimum of 6 years related experience, or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree in a STEM related discipline, a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
