Job Purpose

The CNC Machinist is responsible for operating, programming, and maintaining CNC equipment to produce precision components that meet exact specifications. This role ensures high-quality output, machine reliability, and adherence to safety standards. The CNC Machinist collaborates with engineering and production teams, troubleshoots machining issues, and drives continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines.
  • Create and optimize CNC programs using G-code and CAM software.
  • Perform inspections with precision instruments to ensure tolerances.
  • Maintain safety compliance and organized work area (5S principles).
  • Collaborate on process improvements and new product launches.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate degree in machining or manufacturing preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience operating CNC machines in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming, setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and 3D models.
  • Skilled in precision measurement and quality control practices.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, TPM, and 5S principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to safely use PPE, including safety eyewear, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.

General Job Requirements

  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • This position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass products. Periodic blood tests are required to measure the level of lead. Precautions are taken by the company/employee to reduce the risk of exposure and help ensure everyones safety.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
