OnsiteOur team provides a very high level of technical support while keeping a laser focus on our excellent quality. This position provides the opportunity for independent action and working in a team environment to achieve department goals while considering safety, quality, schedule, and cost to determine priorities. This role demands a “people person” that can interface well with production personnel, management, and other support organizations. You will become familiar with Collins Aerospace products, lean manufacturing objectives, test philosophy, and state of the art manufacturing techniques. What You Will Do:
Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May - December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).
- Support manufacturing processes including: equipment, floor layouts, work sequence, work instructions, procedures, and work flow.
- Conduct studies on cost control, productivity, cost reduction, inventory, and production record systems.
- Review products/processes for quality, safety, and producibility risks and work with design to incorporate changes to eliminate the risks
- Design and 3D print fixtures and tooling to aid in process improvement.
- Independently resolve problems that are difficult and often complex.
- Develop tactical plans to manage day-to-day challenges.

- Master the ability to assess current processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement enhancements to boost productivity and efficiency.
- Gain proficiency in methodologies for continuous improvement, focusing on waste reduction, efficiency enhancement, and driving overall process improvements.
- Develop strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders across all organizational levels.
- Acquire the ability to adapt to changing environments and integrate industry trends and innovations to maintain competitiveness.
- Learn to lead teams, delegate responsibilities, and inspire team members to achieve collective objectives.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Working towards a BS in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
- Strong background in Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience with CAD software.
- Track record of driving continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.
- Good communication skills.
