This is Director position that provides specialist data analysis and expertise that drive decision-making and business insights as well as crafting data pipelines, implementing data models, optimizing data processes for improved data accuracy and accessibility, including applying machine learning and AI-based techniques.

Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.

What you’ll do in the role:

• Design and develop Python-based automation for alert triage (if/then logic, thresholds, and pattern checks), validation of service requests, and controlled escalation upwards.
• Build and maintain data pipelines to ingest and process logs (Splunk), monitoring data, and operational databases.
• Perform automated log analysis and validation to support incident triage and root-cause analysis.
• Implement rule-based and data-driven decision logic using Python and SQL to reduce manual operational effort.
• Develop modular, reusable automation services exposed via REST APIs and scheduled jobs (cron/orchestration).
• Integrate automation services with ServiceNow (incident, request, and change), Power Platform workflows, and Copilot Studio agents.
• Ensure all automation is production-grade with robust error handling, structured logging and traceability, and read-only safeguards and access controls.
• Collaborate with operations teams to provide quality support on the automations implemented.

What you’ll bring to the role:

5 years of hands-on experience with an automation, data engineering, or platform engineering background and exposure to enterprise IT operations; BFSI experience is preferred.

Must-have skills

1. Python Automation (Primary)
Strong hands-on Python experience for Operations automation, including building automation for alert triage, threshold checks, pattern detection, and escalation gating.
Strong experience with REST APIs, JSON/YAML, and authentication (tokens, service accounts).
Working knowledge of commonly used libraries such as requests, pandas, numpy and sqlite3/sqlalchemy, and familiarity with basic scheduling or asynchronous execution using cron, Airflow, or equivalent.

2. IT Systems and Tool Integration
Hands-on experience integrating with ServiceNow APIs for incidents, requests, and changes, working knowledge of Splunk including SPL basics, log querying and interpretation, and API-based log extraction, and an understanding of infrastructure concepts such as servers and system logs, firewall rules (read-only checks), and configuration drift validation. Deep admin or networking expertise is not required, but the ability to automate checks safely is required.

3. Data and Analytics
Strong SQL skills (Snowflake, Postgres, SQL Server, or equivalent), experience with data extraction and aggregation, building operational metrics (MTTR, volumes, trends), and implementing threshold-based decision logic, with exposure to light ETL or pipeline building (daily or near-real-time).

4. Engineering Discipline
Ability to write production-grade code rather than one-off scripts, including structured logging, error handling, idempotent design, and config-driven logic (no hardcoding), and comfort with Git, code reviews, and maintainable documentation, with a strong focus on auditability and safety.
