The position also provides technical leadership across validation, diagnostics, calibration, and system integration activities.
Key Responsibilities Managerial Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of controls and validation engineers (direct or matrix leadership).
- Coordinate and direct technical project teams, including small to mid-sized teams.
- Provide technical direction, mentorship, and coaching to engineers and cross-functional team members.
- Review work of less-experienced engineers to ensure robust, reusable, and efficient designs.
- Lead talent development and contribute to building technical capability within the function.
- Drive process improvements across the function and, where applicable, across business units.
- Influence technical strategy and decision-making within project teams.
- Build strong internal and external networks to enable collaboration and delivery.
Technical & Program Responsibilities Controls Development & System Design
- Lead development of highly complex electronic controls and diagnostics (open/closed loop).
- Translate stakeholder and customer requirements into functional requirements and control algorithms.
- Design, tune, and validate control algorithms to meet performance and regulatory requirements.
- Specify electronic hardware and system architectures including measurements, actuation, and software interactions.
- Apply first-principles engineering and systems thinking to decision-making.
- Contribute to modeling, simulation, calibration, and troubleshooting activities.
Validation & Verification Leadership
- Lead automotive embedded systems validation, system testing, and integration testing.
- Prepare and release DVP&R documentation aligned with Design Change Requests (DCRs).
- Develop test plans, define test methods, and conduct validation coverage analysis.
- Coordinate system, component, HIL/SIL, test cell, and vehicle-level validation activities.
- Ensure component, sprint, and system-level validation completeness.
- Lead pre- and post-build reviews, align validation scope, and prepare release notes.
- Serve as first response technical team for customer or EBU-reported issues.
- Implement structured processes for DCR validation, test environments, and method selection.
Cross-Functional Integration
