- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, Python, JavaScript, or Go).
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing strategic projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
- Experience with containerization and container orchestration technologies (e.g. Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, a technical related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
- 5 years of experience leading teams and building software for scalable, distributed systems.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. - Lead, manage, and develop a team working on GKE Core Node and Open Source Node, including providing technical leadership, strategy, and outlook.
- Develop an ambitious roadmap for projects in collaborations with various stakeholders and compute teams across Google.
- Guide all technical aspects of development, including technical requirements definition, design, implementation, testing, and release.
- Work with teammates to identify opportunities to make Node simpler, more robust, more scalable, and able to empower next-generation workloads.
- Engage in Open Source community and provide leadership in Node and related Special Interests Groups.
