We are looking for a talented Sourcing Analyst to join our team specializing in Purchasing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI .
Job Summary:
Collects information, inputs, data from various sources and conducts analysis/simulations to support or report sourcing work. Analyzes sourcing information and presents findings for process improvement and cost reduction while maintaining high quality product and/or service delivery. Supports sourcing processes and or may source assigned items and executes buying strategies in accordance with agreed sourcing strategy at the optimum cost. Supports and or leads some "special" projects within the team category scope. Super User/Subject Matter Experts (SME) for systems and tools to support the team
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
• Drive efficient purchasing by procuring inventory, supplies, services, and capital goods to ensure uninterrupted operations and timely fulfillment of business needs.
• Strengthen sourcing excellence by analyzing procurement initiatives to identify opportunities for cost savings, higher quality, and improved supplier performance.
• Contribute to financial transparency by supporting monthly and quarterly Value Capture Summaries that highlight realized savings and operational improvements.
• Influence decision making through preparing and presenting process improvements and alternative sourcing strategies to senior procurement and sourcing leaders.
• Maintain compliance and operational consistency by rigorously applying sourcing policies, procedures, and standardized processes across all activities.
• Elevate sourcing effectiveness by assisting with price benchmarking, vendor evaluations, contract development, market research, and model building to guide sound procurement decisions.
• Support contract integrity by conducting minor negotiations, gathering input for complex agreements, and ensuring accurate loading and retrieval of legal and compliance documents.
• Enhance supplier and team collaboration by managing payment and order fulfillment interactions, participating in Six Sigma initiatives, and assisting in evaluating sales reps and vendors.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Balance the needs of multiple stakeholders by anticipating priorities, understanding cross functional perspectives, and making decisions that align with business goals and supplier realities.
• Apply strong business insight to connect sourcing decisions with financial impact, market conditions, cost structures, and long term organizational strategy.
• Communicate effectively by tailoring messages for senior leaders, suppliers, cross functional teams, and technical audiences to ensure clarity and alignment.
• Manage conflict professionally , resolving supplier issues, negotiation tensions, or internal misalignments with composure and minimal disruption.
• Leverage data analytics to interpret qualitative and quantitative information, validate data quality, apply statistical reasoning, and present insights that support data driven sourcing decisions.
• Protect confidential information by following established communication channels, adhering to Confidential Disclosure Agreements, and safeguarding supplier and company data.
• Demonstrate strong cost and value management using tools such as Total Cost Opportunity (TCO) modeling to ensure competitive pricing and protect margins.
• Uphold procurement ethics by avoiding conflicts of interest, engaging suppliers appropriately, and seeking guidance whenever ethical or compliance concerns arise.
• Master procurement policies, procedures, and tools , knowing where to find documentation, how to apply requirements correctly, and how to use systems efficiently in daily work.
• Navigate procurement systems by understanding how purchasing, payment, engineering, and quality systems integrate; troubleshooting issues; and producing useful reports and workflow documentation.
• Apply Source to Pay principles to ensure smooth sourcing decisions, timely order placement, accurate acquisition of materials/services, and on time supplier payment.
• Execute sourcing activities effectively using RFQ processes, TCO comparisons, and category strategies to identify suppliers who best meet business and customer needs.
• Manage supply base risk proactively by using risk analysis tools, identifying potential disruptions, safeguarding continuity of supply, and leveraging dual sourcing strategies.
• Value differences and diverse perspectives , recognizing the importance of varied viewpoints and cultures in making stronger sourcing decisions and building resilient supplier relationships.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
• College, university, or equivalent degree in field appropriate for the function required or equivalent experience required.
• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
• Experience in sourcing, purchasing, or commodity management (2 years minimum)
QUALIFICATIONS
- This role is onsite with flexibility and requires a minimum of 3 days in our office in Troy, MI
- Knowledge in fasteners
- Familiar with commodity management and negotiation
- Experience in Microsoft Excel
- Strong organizational skills
