Mobile Product Management – Executive Director

Wealth Management Platforms
New York Plaza, NY

The mobile fleet operates in a highly matrixed Agile environment, organized around several platform-specific squads (iOS, Android, API) alongside a growing number of cross-functional feature squads.  We are seeking an Executive Director to lead a portfolio of feature squads within our mobile fleet, with accountability for near- and mid-term strategy and end-to-end execution across a 6–12 month horizon.

You will own quarterly planning, roadmap governance, and intake/prioritization for your portfolio, translating broader fleet strategy into crisp plans and measurable outcomes. You will champion differentiated mobile experiences that drive performance across the wealth funnel—from acquisition and activation to key transaction flows (e.g., trades, check deposits, cash transfers), engagement, cross-sell/up-sell, retention, and client/advisor collaboration. You will operate in a matrixed Agile environment where feature squads serve as specialized extensions of broader enterprise product fleets.

Reporting to the Head of Mobile Product Management, this high-visibility leadership role is essential to modernizing the firm’s digital ecosystem. The ideal candidate is a seasoned mobile product leader who thrives in a complex fintech environment, combines strong strategic judgment with rigorous execution, and can align senior stakeholders across Technology, UX, analytics, risk/control partners, and business channels.

About Morgan Stanley

Morgan Stanley is a leading global financial services firm providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services. The Firm’s employees serve clients worldwide including corporations, governments and individuals from more than 1,200 offices in 43 countries.

Morgan Stanley is committed to helping its employees build meaningful careers and we strive to be a place for people to learn, achieve and grow.

Department Overview

In the Wealth Management division, we help people, businesses and institutions build, preserve, and manage wealth so they can pursue their financial goals

Wealth Management (WM) Platforms manages industry-leading platforms, across all WM channels and client segments, to provide a unified digital experience, unlock growth, and deliver efficiencies for Advisors, Clients, and Institutions. WM Platforms consists of ten sub-teams including: Field Experience & Platforms, Digital Client Experience & Platforms, Workplace Platforms, Automation & Workflow, Digital Trading & Investing, Generative AI, UX Design & Research, Strategy & Execution, WM Platforms Risk, and the Chief Operating Office.

The Mobile Product Management team at Morgan Stanley is responsible for delivering best-in-class digital experiences across the Morgan Stanley and E*TRADE mobile applications. We support four critical client segments — self-directed brokerage clients, advised clients, bank clients, and workplace/stock plan clients. Our strategic vision is to unify these previously segmented experiences into one seamless, intelligent mobile ecosystem that dynamically personalizes the UI/UX based on each client’s unique account holdings, relationships, and needs.

What you’ll do in the role:

Strategic Product Leadership & Business Impact

  • Define and execute product vision, strategy, and roadmaps for key mobile capabilities, driving growth across Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management client segments and delivering measurable client and business impact.

  • Use client insights, analytics, experimentation, and value sizing to prioritize the roadmap, make trade-offs transparently, and ensure delivery is focused on the highest-impact client and business outcomes.

  • Lead the unification of Morgan Stanley and E*TRADE mobile experiences by driving consistent information architecture (IA), navigation patterns, design standards, and shared components—reducing fragmentation while preserving segment-specific needs.

  • Define and measure a personalization strategy for the mobile experience, including audience segmentation, decisioning principles, and KPI/OKR ownership to quantify impact on adoption, engagement, conversion, and key transaction flows.

Execution, Planning, and Operational Readiness

  • Lead quarterly planning for your portfolio, translating strategy into clear outcomes, prioritized backlogs, sequencing, and delivery plans across feature squads.

  • Own portfolio-level intake and prioritization, ensuring requests are evaluated consistently, dependencies are surfaced early, and stakeholder expectations are managed transparently.

  • Drive high-quality execution in partnership with Technology, UX, and QA, ensuring outcomes are delivered with strong product rigor (discovery, definition, delivery, launch, measurement, iteration).

  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Information Security to ensure mobile capabilities meet regulatory obligations, privacy requirements, and security-by-design expectations.

  • Champion controls-by-design, high-quality operational readiness, and accessibility standards throughout the product lifecycle.

Team Management & Leadership

  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of four Agile Product Owners, providing strategic guidance, coaching, and career growth opportunities.

  • Foster a culture of product excellence and ensure consistent ways of working across feature squads.

Stakeholder Alignment & Dependency Management

  • Serve as the primary bridge between mobile feature squads and broader enterprise fleets (Trading, Banking, Authentication, Digital Client Services, etc.).

  • Partner closely with platform squads (iOS, Android, API), Technology, UX, QA, and senior business stakeholders to align priorities, manage dependencies, and deliver high-quality outcomes at scale.

  • Communicate roadmap, progress, risks, and decisions clearly to senior leadership, building alignment and momentum in a highly matrixed environment.

Process Creation and Operationalization

  • Establish and maintain robust product management processes, Agile best practices, and operational frameworks to drive consistency, efficiency, and quality across all squads.

  • Identify areas of operational inefficiency within the Agile framework and proactively implement scalable improvements.

  • Support adoption of AI-assisted, spec-driven development (SDD) practices across the lifecycle (e.g., structured specs and acceptance criteria, improved documentation quality, and accelerated workflows through AI-enabled tooling), in partnership with Technology and delivery leaders.

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.

  • 10–15+ years of experience in Product Management with significant leadership in mobile applications, preferably within fintech, brokerage, or wealth management.

  • Deep domain expertise across self-directed brokerage, advised, banking, and/or workplace client segments and their associated feature sets.

  • Proven track record leading and developing Product Owners in large-scale, matrixed Agile environments.

  • Strong experience with data-driven personalization, unification of complex digital experiences, and cross-functional stakeholder management.

  • Passion for building outstanding mobile user experiences and a client-obsessed mindset.

  • Demonstrated fluency in mobile platform product operations, including app store release governance, instrumentation/analytics, experimentation, and performance/reliability best practices.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus and influence stakeholders at all levels (including senior-level executives).
