Sustainability Data Governance Lead
We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Data Governance Lead, in our Budapest office, to help evolve and scale our capabilities to monitor and improve the accuracy and integrity of our growing ESG and alternative data stack. The Sustainability Data Governance Lead will partner with the Firm Data Office (data center of excellence), Technology, and our Internal data engineering and data science teams to ensure a high standard of care for our data assets, optimizing processes for data use and using quantitative methods to ensure data quality for our internal stakeholders and consumers. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of ESG data, data governance, and controls, as well as experience with Python and data analytics tools and techniques.
The Company's Global Sustainability Office (GSO) aims to drive the growth of sustainable investing through ongoing development of products and solutions, economic analysis, thought leadership and capacity building initiatives.
Within GSO, the Global Sustainable Finance (GSF) team's work supports product creation and development across Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, Investment Management and Wealth Management. These products can include investible products or digital applications.

What you will do in the role:
Data Quality Initiatives: Lead efforts to improve data quality for sustainability datasets. Scale up automated data checks and peer review processes to catch and fix data issues promptly or escalate to third party data providers, utilizing vendor tooling and statistical and econometric methods.
Embed Governance in Systems: Work with engineering teams to build data documentation and quality controls into data systems to automate and enforce data governance standards. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data governance and analytics.
Process Compliance: Track and document data lineage to support reporting and meet internal data policy requirements. Ensure data management practices comply with relevant guidelines, standards, or regulations.
Monitor SLAs & Metrics: Define and monitor service-level targets for data quality and availability. Report on data quality metrics and data policy implementation to Data Governance Committees and senior management, providing transparency to stakeholders and escalating issues when needed.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the central data governance office and technology teams to align on data standards and share best practices. Serve as the point person for sustainability data governance, coordinating efforts across the sustainable insights lab and other departments.
What you will bring to the role:
Experience: 4-6 years in data governance, data quality, or a similar data management role.
Data Governance Skills: Strong knowledge of data governance best practices and tools, including data quality checks, metadata management, and documenting data lineage.
Technical Acumen: Experience working with data systems or pipelines. Comfortable partnering with engineers to implement data controls and documentation in code and databases. Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with data management regulations or industry standards (for example, data privacy laws or risk data guidelines). Ability to adapt processes to meet compliance requirements.
Analytical & Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Proven ability to troubleshoot data issues and implement effective solutions.
Communication: The ideal candidate must have excellent speaking and writing skills and be able to communicate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences. They should have experience writing due diligence or technical documentation, including model methodology and other related materials.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems). A master's degree or certification in data management is a plus.
Work Ethic: Comfort juggling multiple priorities; strong organizational and time management skills. Strong attention to detail with persistence, tenacity, and drive for results.
What will help you in the role:
Experience with one or more statistical programming languages (Python is preferred).
Familiarity with Collibra DQ or other AI/ML DQ solutions
Knowledge of frameworks and regulations such as BCBS 239, SASB, GRI, TCFD, CSRD, CSDDD, EU Taxonomy, and SFDR is a plus
Experience managing technical teams
Successful candidates should be well-organized, detail-oriented, and work well in team environments.
