UI Developer - Director- Software Engineering

Profile Description

We’re seeking someone to join our WM Technology team as a UI Developer, in Client Platforms to in MSAW Platform Solutions Tech to help drive program automation and strategy.

In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities.

This is Director position that develops and maintains software solutions that support business needs.

What you’ll do in the role:

· Lead the technical design and development of complex web applications using React.js and JavaScript (ES6+) with high standards for quality, reliability, and maintainability.

· Own front-end architecture decisions (component patterns, state management, data-fetching strategy, build tooling) and ensure alignment with engineering standards.

· Drive performance optimization (profiling, bundle and runtime optimization, caching strategies) to ensure excellent user experience at scale.

· Champion accessibility and UX best practices; ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and cross-browser/device compatibility.

· Establish and enforce robust testing practices (unit/integration/E2E) and quality gates in CI/CD pipelines.

· Embed security-by-design within the UI layer (e.g., protections against XSS/CSRF, secure token handling, secure integration patterns).

· Collaborate with backend/platform teams to define API contracts, integration approaches, observability requirements, and operational readiness.

· Mentor and guide engineers through code reviews, technical coaching, and best-practice adoption; contribute to hiring/interviewing where needed.

· Identify bottlenecks and technical debt; propose and execute pragmatic modernization plans and roadmap improvements.

· Participate in Agile ceremonies and stakeholder reviews; communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly and proactively.

What you’ll bring to the role:

· 5–9 years of professional experience in web development, with substantial recent experience building production React applications.

· Strong hands-on expertise in JavaScript and React.js, including advanced component design, hooks patterns, rendering behavior, and state management approaches.

· Strong understanding of web development fundamentals: HTML5/CSS3, HTTP/HTTPS, REST concepts, browser rendering, DOM/events, and modern front-end tooling.

· Demonstrated technical leadership: ability to drive architecture decisions, influence standards, and guide teams through delivery and production support.

· Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, including debugging complex issues, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing durable fixes.

· Performance optimization experience (profiling, bundle optimization, caching strategies, reducing re-renders, load-time improvements).

· Experience with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and implementing accessible UI patterns.

· Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress) and building/maintaining automated test strategies.

· Knowledge of web security basics (e.g., XSS, CSRF, secure handling of tokens) and secure coding practices for web applications.

· Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployment concepts, including quality gates and release best practices.

· Familiarity with design systems and component libraries; ability to scale consistent UI patterns across teams.

· Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to partner with product, design, platform, and governance stakeholders.
