The Senior Competitive Intelligence & Research Analyst will play a pivotal strategic role within the Competitive Analysis team, driving business-critical insights that shape product strategy and competitive positioning across Expedia Group's portfolio of brands.
The Competitive Analysis team is part of Expedia Group's Product and Technology organization. We prepare comprehensive competitive landscapes for all EG Brands across all platforms, partnering closely with Research & Analytics, Product, and Strategy leaders to identify market opportunities and competitive threats.
The selected candidate will lead complex research initiatives, design strategic frameworks, and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. This role requires a unique blend of management consulting rigor, deep research expertise, and exceptional communication skills to translate market intelligence into actionable business strategies.

In this role, you will:
Strategic Research & Analysis
Lead end-to-end research initiatives from hypothesis development through insights delivery, employing both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to answer complex business questions
Conduct deep-dive market research analyzing industry trends, competitor strategies, customer behaviors, and emerging technologies across the travel and e-commerce ecosystem
Synthesize insights from multiple data sources (primary research, secondary sources, analytics data, customer feedback) to develop holistic, evidence-based narratives

Business Strategy & Consulting
Partner with senior product leaders to frame strategic questions, identify critical intelligence gaps, and inform product roadmap decisions
Develop business cases and strategic recommendations that quantify market opportunities, competitive threats, and potential ROI of product initiatives
Apply management consulting methodologies to structure ambiguous problems, develop hypothesis-driven analyses, and deliver executive-ready recommendations
Insights Communication & Influence
Create compelling, executive-level presentations that distill complex market dynamics into clear, actionable insights with strategic implications
Present findings and recommendations to VP and C-level audiences, adapting communication style to diverse stakeholder groups
Build and maintain strategic relationships across Product, Strategy, Analytics, Marketing, and Business Development teams
Contribute to product and business strategy through data-driven storytelling and strategic insights
Drive innovation in how competitive intelligence is gathered, analyzed, and disseminated across the organization
Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Master's degree in Business, Economics, Strategy, or related field strongly preferred from a top-tier institution
3+ years of progressive experience in management consulting (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or equivalent tier-2 firms), corporate strategy, competitive intelligence, or strategic research roles
Management consulting background highly valued – demonstrated experience structuring complex business problems, conducting rigorous analysis, and delivering executive recommendations
Proven track record in research-intensive roles with experience designing and executing primary and secondary research studies

Expert in research methodologies including competitive benchmarking, market sizing, and primary research design
Skilled in developing proprietary frameworks and mental models that organize complex market dynamics
Ability to synthesize insights from multiple data sources into evidence-based strategic narratives
Hypothesis-driven thinking and structured problem-solving approach typical of top-tier consulting firms
Ability to structure ambiguous problems and drive clarity in undefined strategic spaces
Client service orientation with focus on understanding stakeholder needs and delivering business impact
Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency in data analysis tools and comfort working with large datasets
Experience with competitive intelligence platforms and research tools
