DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Cummins’ business in Bloomfield, CT.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Support project execution by helping create and implement robust manufacturing processes that meet safety, quality, and production targets.
Apply foundational manufacturing principles to identify improvement opportunities across equipment, workflows, and methods.
Assist with developing and standardizing manufacturing procedures that drive consistency, efficiency, and compliance.
Use continuous improvement tools to analyze issues, remove waste, and optimize process performance.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to advance project goals and ensure alignment across stakeholders.
Contribute to equipment and process enhancements that improve reliability, productivity, and product quality.
Participate in problem‑solving activities to support root-cause identification and sustainable corrective actions .
Build and expand your manufacturing knowledge to apply Cummins-specific practices and contribute more effectively over time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to build effective partnerships, adapt messages to diverse audiences, and leverage differing perspectives to achieve shared objectives.
- Solid technical capability in manufacturing fundamentals, including drawing interpretation, workstation/ergonomic design, tooling and fixture selection, and accurate process documentation.
- Proficiency with manufacturing analysis and improvement methodologies —using digital simulations, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement tools to enhance processes, equipment, and safety.
- Effective problem‑solving abilities and a proactive health‑and‑safety mindset to identify risks, drive root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and support safe, reliable, and standardized manufacturing operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Basic level of relevant work experience required.
