The Office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is engaged in delivering operational support to the front-office investment teams. Office of the COO works closely with Support Control Functions to oversee the daily operations of IM across the Americas, EMEA and APAC regions. Key functional roles include strategic initiatives, product development, portfolio surveillance, trading, hedging, valuation, insurance, regulatory oversight, risk management, data governance, documentation management and business administration.  

The Employee Investing Programs Associate is a newly created role, supporting MSIM’s expansion of investment opportunities for employees across our Alternatives Platform. This highly motivated and strategic individual will work cross functionally with legal, compliance, fund structuring, operations, HR and senior investment professionals to design and implement scalable investment programs that will give employees the opportunity to invest across our private markets business, including private equity, private credit, real assets, and hedge fund strategies.   

Program Design & Strategy

  • Assist with design and development of the firm’s employee investing program, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, employee engagement goals, and regulatory standards.
  • Develop the strategic framework for employee participation, eligibility, investment options, and governance structures.
  • Conduct benchmarking and best-practice analyses to ensure the program is competitive and innovative within the financial services industry.

Program Development & Implementation

  • Support the offering and administration of new employee alternative investment funds by partnering with investment teams and other key stakeholders.
  • Partner with head of the team and cross-functional departments (HR, Legal, Compliance, Investor Services) to build operational and technical infrastructure to support program administration.
  • Translate strategic goals into actionable plans, including timelines, milestones, and key deliverables for program rollout.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and communications to ensure seamless execution and understanding of the program across eligible employee levels.

Employee Experience & Communication

  • Create content and engagement initiatives to help employees understand and maximize their participation in the program.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to employees and senior leadership on investment options and program features.

Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor trends in employee benefits and investment programs to identify new opportunities for innovation.
  • Recommend program enhancements based on evolving employee needs, market developments, and firm priorities.

Requirements:

  • Education – bachelor’s degree, preferable in economics, finance or business administration
  • Experience – 3-5 years working in an employee investing, investor services or relevant role

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
