DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Test Engineer – Senior to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Cummins’ business in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Enhance Product Quality Through Test Innovation You’ll develop, maintain, and upgrade test equipment and architectures that ensure application products meet performance and quality standards.
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement By analyzing test results and identifying failure causes, you’ll provide actionable insights that lead to better product reliability and design enhancements.
  • Support Seamless Assembly with Functional Testing Your understanding of end-product functional tests during assembly will help ensure that products meet specifications before reaching customers.
  • Advance Automation and Efficiency You’ll evaluate and implement automated test tools and strategies, improving test accuracy, repeatability, and throughput.
  • Collaborate Across Functions for Holistic Solutions Drawing on knowledge from engineering, quality, manufacturing, safety, and facilities, you’ll deliver well-rounded test solutions that support broader business goals.
  • Promote Safety and Compliance You’ll ensure all test procedures align with safety and manufacturing standards, protecting both people and processes.
  • Mentor and Develop Talent By coaching less experienced employees, you’ll help build a stronger, more capable team and foster a culture of learning and growth.
  • Document and Share Best Practices Your thorough documentation and knowledge sharing will support consistency, scalability, and continuous improvement across teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Collaborative Communication and Safety Leadership You’ll need to communicate effectively across teams and champion a proactive safety culture, ensuring all test procedures and equipment meet health, safety, and manufacturing standards.
  • Technical Expertise in Test Systems and Data Analysis Success depends on your ability to design and optimize test control systems, apply sensor technologies, and extract insights through data mining to drive quality and performance improvements.
  • Problem Solving and Project Execution You’ll need strong problem-solving skills and project management capabilities to identify root causes, implement robust solutions, and deliver results within scope, schedule, and resource constraints.
  • Systems Thinking and Process Optimization Leveraging knowledge in controls system security, networking, and equipment procurement, you’ll ensure secure, efficient, and standardized processes that support long-term operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
  • This role is designated at 100% onsite

Additional Details:

This role will manage and support the global testing strategy, and develop test standards and daily operations of all the components within our traction business globally. This role will perform machine troubleshooting and implementation of Test/Control upgrades, so basic knowledge of test systems and tools like CANalyzer, NI Labview, AVL Puma/Lynx, Cyflex, and PLC is required. Knowledge of database management is a plus (read, write, and troubleshoot SQL and MS Access). This role will support end-of-line Test and IPV applications, and work closely with Test subject matter experts for continuous improvement of RFT, etc. Electric vehicle component manufacturing experience is a plus.
