The Tax Associate – Level II supports various tax disciplines with a primary focus on income and indirect tax compliance, including GST. This role is responsible for assisting with tax return preparation, documentation, research on tax regulations, and supporting audit and compliance activities. The position works under moderate supervision while collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure tax processes and reporting are accurate, compliant, and aligned with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare income, franchise, and indirect tax returns along with supporting documentation and payments.
  • Assist in the preparation of responses to tax notices, audits, and tax authority queries.
  • Support the documentation and validation of the company’s tax positions.
  • Conduct research on tax regulations, tax codes, and related compliance requirements and document findings.
  • Coordinate with internal departments while professionally representing the tax function.
  • Participate in tax department workflow processes including tax return processing and assembly, e-filing, scanning, and uploading documents to document management systems.
  • Track reports, manage deadlines, and ensure timely completion of tax compliance activities.
  • Support statutory audits, internal audits, and tax assessments by preparing required documentation.
  • Assist with tax-related reconciliations and maintain documentation for audit readiness.
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives within tax operations.
  • Perform additional tax or finance-related duties and projects as assigned.

Experience

  • Requires some relevant work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.
  • Experience in tax return preparation, reconciliation, audit support, and documentation is preferred.
  • Exposure to statutory audits, internal audits, and tax assessments is advantageous.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience required.
  • A two-year university degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of indirect taxes, particularly GST compliance .
  • Ability to understand and interpret tax laws, regulatory changes, and compliance updates.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel , including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, advanced formulas, and data validation.
  • Experience working with automation tools and reconciliation software .
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective stakeholder coordination and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
