Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Responsible/Analysis Engineer OR Principal Responsible/Analysis Engineer – Secondary Power with experience in aircraft gearboxes and auxiliary drive systems development and integration to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.* This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.
Key responsibilities may include:

Performing responsible engineer activities, which include all aspects of gearbox and auxiliary drive system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting. These activities may also include participating on a subcontractor management team and will act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement.

Performing system related analysis, such as performance simulation, in support of the development including integration with other aircraft subsystems.

System level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.

System level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure qualification and airworthiness criteria are met.

Attending internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
This role may be filled as an Engineer (level 2) or Principal Engineer (level 3) based on the qualifications outlined below.
Basic Qualifications:

Responsible/Analysis Engineer - Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 2 years of engineering experience

Principal Responsible/Analysis Engineer - Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of engineering experience, OR Master’s degree AND 3 years of engineering experience

Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.

Must have professional experience related to the development and integration of gearboxes and auxiliary drive subsystems or components.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with focus on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic, heat transfer, and/or gear design disciplines
-
Experience with aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft.
-
Experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanic, heat transfer analysis and/or gear design related to military/commercial aircraft and subsystems
-
Experience modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ software
-
Experience with auxiliary components such as generators, PMG, oil pumps and hydraulic pumps.

Experience with lithium ion batteries.

Experience with the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516
-
Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures

Experience in supporting pursuits and proposals, including generating, reviewing, and approving technical proposals and BOEs

Demonstrated experience in leadership related to integrated product teams, including supplier and customer (internal and external) relations
Salary Range: $77,200 - $115,800
Salary Range 2: $95,300 - $142,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
