DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Facilities Technician – HVAC/Mechanical – Level II to join our team specializing in Facilities for our Cummins Inc. facility in Rocky Mount, NC.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Elevate safety culture by proactively evaluating risks in reactive and preventative work, planning with safety top-of-mind, and modeling safe habits daily, you’ll help reduce incidents and build a stronger safety-first environment.
- Improve system reliability as you learn to diagnose malfunctions with test equipment and hand tools, you’ll shorten downtime, prevent repeat failures, and boost the performance of critical systems (e.g., HVAC and building controls).
- Optimize maintenance workflows using software to track, assign, and prioritize reactive, planned, preventative, and predictive tasks, you’ll increase transparency, reduce backlog, and ensure the right work is done at the right time.
- Strengthen cross-functional support by collaborating across teams and performing repairs within your capability, you’ll enable faster issue resolution and better coordination between operations, facilities, and vendors.
- Build future-ready capability through classes and on/off-site training, you’ll steadily gain the skills needed to pass local certifications, expanding the team’s bench strength and enabling more complex work in-house.

- Facilities Maintenance - Assesses the condition of the facility including its systems, structure, interiors, exteriors and grounds; manages facility operations and maintenance activities; develops and operates asset management systems for Preventative Maintenance's that uses criticality analysis, predictive tools and prioritization.
- Facilities Operation - Manages occupant services (parking, janitorial services, food services, concierge, facility helpdesk, security and safety); manages the maintenance contracting process; develops and manages the facility’s operational planning requirements (temperature control, lighting, equipment replacement, water treatment and so forth).
- Facility Electrical Technical - Troubleshoots, repairs, and installs Electrical distribution systems, buss bars, breaker boxes, motors and other electrical equipment to enable the facility to operate properly with lights and electricity provided to the production activities.
- Facility Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technical - Troubleshoots, repairs, and installs heating equipment, boilers, ventilations systems, chillers, cooling tower, air compressors and other mechanical equipment, in order to provide heating or cooling as needed to the facility, people and processes of producing products as needed.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
Must meet the minimum educational requirements to start the apprenticeship or regional program. Must pass all related testing.
Experience:
Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, configure, and implement BMS software for HVAC, lighting, and energy management systems.
- Test and validate system functionality according to project requirements.
- Integrate third-party devices and protocols
- Perform wiring, cable routing, and termination for BMS controllers, sensors, and actuators.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams.
- Ensure proper labeling and documentation of wiring connections.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in BMS systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and system upgrades.
- Provide technical support to clients and internal teams.
- Adhere to electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of programming changes and wiring diagrams.
Education:
- Diploma or Degree in relevant field.
Experience:
- 2+; years in BMS programming and electrical wiring.
- Familiarity with major BMS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, Johnson Controls).
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and building automation.
- Familiar with electrical schematics and control drawings.
- Hands-on experience with wiring, terminations, and troubleshooting.
Preferred Certifications:
- BMS platform certifications (Niagara software).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work on-site, climb ladders, and handle wiring tasks safely.
