Profile Description
Morgan Stanley is seeking a self-starter, experienced full stack developer to join the Fixed Income Front Office Technology team. The individual will work as part of the global development team to help the team analyze, design, develop, and document a modern technology stack to power our digital platforms aimed at unlocking efficiencies for our Investment Teams. As a front office developer, the individual will also work closely with the Fixed Income Business to solve operational problems and design strategic portfolio optimization solutions. The individual will work directly with Fixed Income portfolio managers and traders to gather requirements and help build a decision support system for them. This platform is a recent build out and aims to assist Fixed income PM and traders during order generation. The individual will work with senior team members to design and implement solutions using latest cutting-edge technology.

MS Investment Management Technology (IMIT)
Morgan Stanley Investment Management Technology exclusively partners with the Morgan Stanley Investment Management business division to design and develop systems and integrate vendor products to globally support full life cycle business processing. Activities include Portfolio Analysis, Risk, Trading, Operations, and Sales & Marketing. Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) Technology also provides holistic support and quality assurance across the suite of applications used in the MSIM environment.

Position Overview

Designing and developing modern and modular web applications using modern coding and testing standards. Learning/understanding Fixed Income instruments and workflows, to build business solutions. Gathering, analyzing and documenting business requirements Level 2 production support of applications managed by the team Participating in our agile ceremonies and actively driving towards the team’s goals. Working independently using modern software development practices Working collaboratively with a global team of technologists. Leading with ideas and innovation. Leading communication and partnering with our end users (Fixed Income business) to design solutions.

What you’ll do in the role:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in computer science, or similar is preferred.

• 3+ years of experience developing enterprise applications with heavy emphasis in:

  • writing unit, component, and integration tests.

  • designing web-based components.

  • relational database.

• Extensive experience with Python.

• Working knowledge of Java.

• Strong computer science fundamentals.

• Experience working directly with end users.

• Experience working with microservices and distributed systems.

• Experience working with build tooling.

• Willingness to learn Morgan Stanley practices and technologies.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Python / FAST / Flask API Backend technologies - Core Java / Spring Boot / Spring Cloud / JUnit Relational Database Linux / Cloud Stack / Docker / Kubernetes

Good to Have:

Frontend technologies – Angular / React Build tooling – Jenkins / Gradle Database technologies –NoSQL MongoDB / Snowflake

Additional Desired (not required) Competencies:

• Understanding of financial markets and instruments.

• Experience in financial services.

• Experience with Fixed Income Portfolio tools and data.

• Experience with React

• Experience with MVC Architecture for webapps.
