Citi continues to enhance its business control and governance framework by building out Institutional Credit Management (ICM), a first line of defense business line, to house and consistently manage credit risk activities performed for Citi’s institutional clients. Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function (“ICM UW” or “UW”) provides credit analysis, underwriting, and first line of defense credit approval for periodic / material transaction reviews, and any necessary subsequent credit monitoring across all institutional business including Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking relationships.

The ICM Senior Credit Analyst will lead the evaluation and ongoing management of complex credit exposures. This role has responsibility for the Non Investment Grade portfolio, with a focus on Classified assets. The role involves quality assurance, team guidance, and engagement with senior management to drive sound credit decisions.


In this role, you’re expected to:

  • Lead comprehensive credit assessments, valuations, and rating assignments for complex or large exposures. Independently prepare financial models and company valuations using most appropriate methods (DCF, SOTP, Project finance, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, etc.).  
  • Assess liquidity, debt capacity and other areas of financial and operating performance to evaluate areas of weakness and potential for turnaround, which is measured by setting and monitoring appropriate classification triggers.
  • Model companies' financial position to assess appropriate debt structure and accurate debt value using the most appropriate valuation methodology.
  • Oversee and review credit papers, ensuring analytical rigor and compliance with policy standards.  
  • Monitor portfolio performance and conduct early warning analyses.  
  • Guide stress testing, sector review initiatives, and internal risk assessments.  
  • Participate in or lead credit review committees and provide insights on deal structuring and documentation.  
  • Mentor and review work of analysts across levels to maintain output quality and consistency.  
  • Ensure adherence to credit governance, internal control, and audit standards.  
  • Sound Understanding of credit agreements such as key terms, covenants, etc.
  • Good understanding of banking products and associated risks & process flows
  • Work closely with other colleagues (Senior Bankers and Senior Credit Officer-level transactors) to remain coordinated on the restructuring/valuation process and assess likely restructuring scenarios
  • Evaluate and process documentation to both evaluate and implement the appropriate strategy; partner with Citi Legal and outside legal.
  • Manage assigned bilateral and syndicated portfolios
  • Co-manage of accounts with internal partners.
  • Review accounts in accordance with established policies and standards set by Citi
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • CA, CFA, or MBA (Finance) with 10–13 years of experience in credit risk, corporate lending, or financial research.  
  • Exceptional experience with the internal Policies, Standards, Procedures, Templates.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate financial statements and business plans, across a range of industrial sectors and form independent opinions on credit and emerging risks.
  • Proficient knowledge of corporate and debt structuring, with a particular understanding of bank loan documentation.
  • Good understanding of risk profiles of all credit products.
  • Advanced credit analysis and corporate financial modeling.
  • Risk assessment and quantitative analysis experience.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and communication skills, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well make meaningful contributions as part of a team.
  • Project management skills, with a focus on Information System implementation
  • Leadership and mentoring capability.  
  • Excellent judgment and risk awareness.  
  • Strong stakeholder and presentation skills.  
  • Focus on quality control and process adherence.
  • Solid organizational skills with ability and willingness to work under pressure and manage time and priorities effectively.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
