DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Cost Analyst to join our team specializing in Finance for our Cummins Inc. facility in Fridley, MN.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Enable Smarter Decision-Making By providing accurate and timely cost data, you'll empower management to make informed operational and strategic decisions.
- Drive Cost Efficiency Your analysis of cost variances (like IPV and PPV) will help identify inefficiencies and areas for cost savings, directly influencing profitability.
- Ensure Data Integrity Maintaining the cost master and updating standard costs ensures consistency and reliability in financial reporting and planning.
- Support Product Lifecycle Management Creating and maintaining costing for new items helps ensure accurate pricing and margin analysis from product launch onward.
- Improve Financial Transparency Conducting cost audits and variance analysis will uncover hidden issues and provide clarity on cost drivers across departments.
- Enhance Inventory Valuation Accuracy Your involvement in inventory valuation ensures that financial statements reflect true inventory costs, supporting compliance and audit readiness.
- Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration By identifying data needs and working with other departments, you'll foster collaboration and streamline data flows for better analysis.
- Strengthen Strategic Presentations Preparing analysis and presentation materials for leadership helps translate complex data into actionable insights, influencing high-level decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent field or studying for accounting entry qualifications.
Experience:
Minimal relevant professional work experience in the field of study required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Information:
Core responsibilities:
- This role will be responsible for completing the quarterly reactive costing process. Including interpreting, analyzing and communicating the current costing trends to stakeholders to drive financial performance that aligns to organizational goals and strategies.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end close support for the plant, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other closing activities.
- Participate in or lead special projects as assigned.
Skills, Education, or Experience Requirements:
- Can work independently with some oversight
- Ability to navigate through multiple finance systems such as Oracle and tools to gather data or information
- Attention to detail
