POSITION SUMMARY:
As an Operations Technology Specialist, you ensure the reliability, functionality, and performance of the computer hardware, software, databases, and network systems that keep daily manufacturing operations running smoothly. You take the lead in coordinating the deployment, installation, upgrades, and removal of plant‑floor hardware and software, making sure each system is set up effectively and efficiently.

 

In this role, you provide hands‑on information systems support for day‑to‑day factory operations. You troubleshoot application, network, and hardware issues; execute system software changes and upgrades; and participate in—sometimes even lead—small IT‑related capital projects. You also support factory and category initiatives that advance continuous improvement.

 

To succeed, you bring strong prioritization skills and a deep understanding of factory business processes and how technology integrates with them. You commit to learning all IT department practices, procedures, and the full suite of software and hardware used across the manufacturing environment so you can support operations at the highest level.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot in-house (admin.) office related computer hardware, software, and multi-media systems. Provide first level plant floor systems and office users/systems support (iPad, Onboarding).  
  • Deliver training to end users on plant floor technology (iPad, Laptop, and other devices in scope)
  • Support in maintaining & monitoring company data backup procedures, disaster recovery plans, security and authorization policies.
  • Maintain accurate & up to date audit records of plant hardware. (Asset Management).  May Perform purchasing functions for systems related hardware, software and resources.
  • Provide demand-based technical support including off-hours support as per departmental rotation schedule.
  • Understand business and manufacturing processes that utilize information technology. Support functionality of core factory operational systems. Install and troubleshoot plant floor (FFIT) computer software and hardware. Can sometimes specify equipment and software for factory level needs. (iPad, Handheld, printers & Peripherals).  Coordinate hardware repairs with vendors as needed.
  • Can manage small/medium projects with minimal supervision, provide IT support and sometimes provide support on small factory capital projects.
  • Participate in cross-functional process improvement teams to drive plant performance through improved processes and system performance. (Product Group)
  • Maintain working knowledge of Corporate Compliance & System Standards and Guidelines. Ensure adherence to Nestle IT Compliance Guidelines and FAS requirements at the factory.
  • Maintain working knowledge of plant process controls environment to ensure hardware/software compatibility.
  • Participate in local safety program and required factory training.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Associate’s degree required, preferrably in computer science, IT Management, or 5+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Systems operations (PC, Cisco Networking)
  • Phone System administration and maintenance (Cisco, Teams EV)
  • Windows operating systems
  • Windows Server operating systems
  • Apple iOS
  • SQL Database
  • VMWare, Nutanix

 

SKILLS:

  • Systems operations - Manufacturing Execution Systems, Warehouse Management Systems, Various Operating Systems, Network operating systems, databases and queries,
  • Programming experience with various languages ( powershell, python, c, c++)
  • Communication protocols
  • SD-WAN ( Software Defined Wide Area Network), FWaaS ( Firewall-as-a-Service.
  • Troubleshooting network configuration errors and problems.  
  • Support computer hardware, software, and industrial label printers in a manufacturing environment.
  • On site coordination with third party IT corporate escalation support functions
