In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Ensure reliable test setups: Build and prepare test articles, fixtures, and rigs accurately so testing starts with a safe, repeatable, and well-configured setup.
  • Enable high-quality data collection: Install instrumentation according to engineering standards to ensure test data is precise, traceable, and useful for engineering analysis.
  • Support efficient test execution: Assist with running tests using established procedures, helping the team complete tests on schedule while maintaining accuracy.
  • Improve test validity: Understand how both the product and the test equipment function so you can quickly recognize issues that might affect data quality.
  • Troubleshoot test systems: Diagnose and resolve setup, instrumentation, or test stand issues to minimize downtime and keep testing operations moving.
  • Maintain reliable lab operations: Perform upkeep and maintenance on laboratory equipment so tools and systems remain safe, calibrated, and ready for use.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement: Provide feedback on fixtures, setups, and processes to help refine test procedures and increase efficiency over time.
  • Support the full test lifecycle: Manage everything from initial build and setup to final teardown, ensuring test articles are handled properly and labs remain organized for future work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful, you will need to consistently demonstrate the following:

· Prioritize health and safety in everything you do: Actively identify hazards, follow lab safety standards, and promote safe practices to help create an injury-free workplace.

· Take initiative and stay action-oriented: Approach challenges with urgency and energy, proactively stepping in to solve problems, improve setups, and keep testing moving forward.

· Communicate clearly with engineers and team members: Share test updates, issues, and results in a way that different audiences can easily understand, ensuring alignment and efficiency.

· Manage complex testing environments: Interpret test plans, equipment requirements, and instrumentation details while handling multiple variables that affect test accuracy.

· Make timely, high-quality decisions: Evaluate available data, equipment conditions, and test requirements to make decisions that keep projects progressing.

· Deliver reliable results through strong testing practices: Prepare samples, verify calibration, execute procedures correctly, and ensure that all collected data is accurate and trustworthy.

· Build and configure effective test systems: Assemble test articles, install instrumentation, and design test setups that meet engineering requirements and allow the product to be tested properly.

· Continuously improve systems and solve problems: Use structured problem-solving methods, maintain equipment proactively, identify root causes of issues, and implement solutions that prevent repeat problems.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.

Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Info:

  • The ideal candidate for the role will be well versed in troubleshooting automotive systems such as wiring issues, J1939 CAN communication networks, and diesel engine performance issues
  • Must be able to operate PIV, Hoist, and Crane
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems
  • Basic knowledge of Diesel Engines and Aftertreatment Components preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of computers and computer programs preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Ability to multitask many priorities or assignments at the same time
