About the Role
Real Assets Group at Morgan Stanley is a team within Investment Banking Division in Tokyo that oversees origination and execution of transactions in real estate, infrastructure and related sectors. As the Group has been expanding its transaction capabilities and client universe in recent years, we are currently searching for multiple candidates to strengthen the team with expertise in relevant industries, and/or experience in the Investment Banking industry.
Key Responsibilities
Engaging in client coverage in the real estate, infrastructure and related sectors (includes but not limited to: real estate developers, homebuilders, construction companies, non-real estate corporates with real estate/infrastructure asset portfolio, J-REITs, private equity funds with real estate/infrastructure exposure)
Leading and managing the execution of corporate finance transactions (including IPOs, follow-on offerings, other debt and equity financings, both domestic and cross border M&As, strategic advisory) and real estate and infrastructure-related transactions
Performing financial analysis, strategic business analysis and detailed industry research, providing rapid and accurate market judgments to colleagues and clients
Preparing and delivering high quality client presentations in a clear and compelling manner, and contributing to team discussions and client meetings
Working closely with bankers on the team and across other groups
Qualifications, Skills & Requirements
Investment Banking (corporate finance/M&A) and/or relevant advisory experience of 3 years or more is required. Real estate/infrastructure sector-related experience is helpful and experience in origination and execution of M&A transactions (in particular, cross-border transactions) is a plus
Knowledge of fundamental accounting and financial concepts; ability to analyze and value businesses with high level of analytical and modelling skills
Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines; committed to delivery of highest quality work product
A positive, highly motivated individual who exhibits strong leadership and management qualities, demonstrating best-in-class professional integrity
Strong understanding of professional ethics and regulatory environment
Solid work ethic and demonstrated commitment to excellence
Proactive; self-motivated and goal-oriented with first class organizational skills
Passionate team player with ability to work effectively in a team environment
Fluent in Japanese (near-native level) and business level English; excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
A solid academic background including a bachelor’s degree; an MBA or equivalent is helpful
