DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Project Manager – Quality to join our team specializing in quality for our Cummins’ business in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Drive complex projects from start to finish, turning ideas into fully executed deliverables by defining scope, setting objectives, and keeping all stakeholders aligned.
  • Establish measurable goals and milestones that provide clarity, accountability, and visibility into project progress, ensuring every initiative has a quantifiable path to success.
  • Identify and resolve project risks and issues early, using Quality tools, data analysis, and structured problem solving to maintain momentum and avoid delays.
  • Elevate communication and transparency by using data visualization and project management tools to provide clear, timely updates to sponsors, leadership, and cross functional teams.
  • Optimize resources and team coordination, ensuring the right people are assigned to the right tasks while guiding and coaching team members through each project phase.
  • Manage budgets and analyze project data to support informed decision making, validate assumptions, and ensure efficient use of time and resources.
  • Improve organizational project management maturity by documenting lessons learned, sharing best practices, and applying insights from past initiatives to strengthen future project outcomes.
  • Create accessible digital project documentation and systems, maintaining organized records that support seamless collaboration, faster onboarding, and long term project continuity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Strategic and business acumen to understand the organization’s goals, navigate complex information, prioritize effectively, and make customer centric decisions that support meaningful project outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills that allow you to tailor messages to different audiences, collaborate across functions, manage conflict constructively, and engage teams toward shared objectives.
  • Advanced project and risk management expertise to balance scope, schedule, and resources; identify and mitigate issues early; and apply continuous improvement and quality tools to deliver consistent, high impact results.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and cross functional leadership to translate complex data into clear insights, value diverse perspectives, build effective teams, and drive an inclusive, motivated environment that delivers results.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelors degree or experience equivalent is required.
  • Quality Green Belt certified or equivalent.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Minimum 3+ years relevant work experience required. Project or team leadership experience preferred.

Additional Details:

  • Execute VPCRs and MCRs actions as required, ensuring timely closure, effective root cause resolution, and documented evidence in accordance with internal/external and customer requirements and Quality System.
  • Lead PPAP activities and customer communications alignment with MCRs, acting as the primary quality interface to ensure transparency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead laboratory activities related to measurement systems, CNC or CMM programming, and welding analysis, ensuring accuracy, capability, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
  • Lead VPI and VPC Quality tasks, ensuring quality readiness, risk mitigation, and adherence to project milestones during product and process launches.
  • Manage and lead the VPI Quality team, providing direction, workload prioritization, and technical guidance to meet project goals, quality targets, and launch timelines.
  • Provide strong quality leadership by setting clear expectations, coaching team members, and fostering a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration to effectively manage risks and support successful project execution.
  • Monitor and report project quality metrics, including PPAP status, open VPCRs/MCRs, and customer issues, escalating risks proactively to management when needed.
  • Drive standard work and best practices across VPI and VPC processes, ensuring alignment with corporate quality systems and customer-specific requirements.
  • Support resource planning and capability development for the VPI Quality team, including training, competency building, and workload balancing.
  • Represent Project Quality in management reviews, customer meetings, and project milestone reviews, ensuring data-driven decision-making and clear communication of risks and status.
  • Support any other quality-related activities as directed by the direct supervisor.

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
