We are looking for an entry level Sales Application Engineer – Power Generation who would like to be part of the expanding team at Cummins providing the power generation systems & solutions for the growing data centre, energy management, mission critical and industrial power market segments within the Asia Pacific business region. This role needs to be based in Singapore while providing sales application engineering supports for power generation project opportunities at various countries within the Asia Pacific and collaborating across the globe. This will be following Onsite with Flexibility arrangements. Location will be Tuas South, Singapore.

Cummins Application Engineer serves as the technical liaison between Cummins and its customers. Applying Cummins’ power generation products to customer power generation and distribution systems involves product sizing, selection, installation design review, and installation review. The role ensures delivery of high‑performance, cost‑effective equipment and system solutions seamlessly integrated with customer power systems across diverse applications, including data centers, commercial buildings, hospitals, semiconductor manufacturing facilities, water treatment plants, gas compressor stations, and mining sites.

In this role, you will make an impact on the power generation systems & solutions we offer to our distributors, customers and their consultants in the following ways:

  • Build customer relationships
  • Interpret customer requirements and recognize regulatory requirements
  • Define functional & performance requirements
  • Recommend applicable systems & solutions, and generate technical specifications
  • Provide technical support to sales, distributors, and customers
  • Provide technical compliance, deviation and exemption matrix to the tender requirements
  • Communicate system installation requirements
  • Recommend and review systems installation designs (on paper)
  • Review actual systems installation (on site)
  • Support testing & commissioning, troubleshoot & resolve technical issues
  • Generate and review technical documentation
  • Provide technical feedback to product management and engineering

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Machine Integration and Optimization – Integrates subsystems using Cummins standards to optimize performance, reliability, cost, and quality; resolves issues using proven troubleshooting methods.
  • Machine Operation and Support – Monitors system performance, addresses failures, and responds proactively to operational needs to improve user satisfaction and cost efficiency.
  • Product Application Support – Provides accurate technical content, defines installation requirements, and develops tools to support new product integration across markets.
  • Product Installation Quality – Improves integration through standardized processes and ensures correct installation via structured reviews.
  • Product Problem Solving – Identifies root causes, implements data-driven corrective actions, and prevents recurrence through systemic solutions.
  • Product Selection – Guides customers to best-fit products, optimizes specifications, and prevents misapplication using technical systems.
  • Technical Customer Management – Acts as the technical interface, providing data, training, and managing product changes to prevent customer disruption.
  • Collaborates – Builds partnerships and works effectively toward shared goals.
  • Communicates Effectively – Delivers clear, audience appropriate communication across formats.
  • Customer Focus – Builds strong relationships and provides customer centric solutions.

  • System Requirements Engineering – Translates stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements and manages their lifecycle and impacts.
  • Technical Documentation – Captures and shares technical knowledge to improve productivity and enable knowledge transfer.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical or Electronics or Mechatronics or Systems Engineering
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer oriented and work proactively.
  • Some experience in applying power generation products, systems, and solutions (preferable)
  • Ability to interact and work collaboratively with customer, supplier, and Cummins internal stakeholders.
  • Desirable basic knowledge on diesel engines and/or power generation and/or BESS (Battery Energy Storage System).
  • No cross-border support will be provided.
