As Product Owner of the E*TRADE by Morgan Stanley App API team, the ideal candidate should have experience leading an agile team through the complete delivery process (creating roadmaps, writing clear & concise product requirements and post launch activities like compiling customer feedback into actionable items). Experience with leading a service side team, API architecture development and more technical focused requirements is strongly preferred. This role will also act as the E*TRADE by Morgan Stanley iOS and Android Production Support lead so a successful candidate will also possess strong interpersonal skills, working knowledge of industry trends/competitors and understanding customer needs.

In the Wealth Management division, we help people, businesses and institutions build, preserve, and manage wealth so they can pursue their financial goals

 Wealth Management (WM) Platforms manages industry-leading platforms, across all WM channels and client segments, to provide a unified digital experience, unlock growth, and deliver efficiencies for Advisors, Clients, and Institutions. WM Platforms consists of ten sub-teams including: Field Experience & Platforms, Digital Client Experience & Platforms, Workplace Platforms, Automation & Workflow, Digital Trading & Investing, Generative AI, UX Design & Research, Strategy & Execution, WM Platforms Risk, and the Chief Operating Office.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Execution for E*TRADE Mobile API Squad
    • Build and maintain prioritized product backlog – identify, groom, and validate epics and user stories for agile sprints; Support backlog refinement and sprint planning ceremonies to communicate requirements and drive consensus with squad and program stakeholders
    • Work closely with the technology team to assure effective communication of requirements and rapid delivery of key product releases
    • Conduct hands-on functional testing and validation of business requirements in conjunction with Quality Assurance teams
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders from business, technology, UX, risk, cyber & fraud, communications, legal & compliance to elicit requirements
    • Own release management of your channel by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to meet release deadlines
    • Coordinate with 5 other Mobile Product Owners to manage overall API release scope and ensure API releases are meeting release-date deadlines
    • Map out key release dependencies to ensure team is releasing features in sequential order  
    • Prepare presentations, user demos, and status updates
  • Production Support for E*TRADE iOS and Android E*TRADE Apps
    • Act as the Mobile Team Liaison between all mobile Product Owners and internal client services team to triage issues with clients and communicate workarounds where applicable 
    • Monitor qualitative and quantitative feedback channels following releases to identify and triage potential issues across Android and iOS mobile applications
    • Coordinate with the entire Mobile PO team to prepare and report weekly on issue statuses with a focus on remediation plans, issue severity and impacted audiences
    • Monitor client “wants” to determine and track trends in client feedback for enhancement ideas
    • Partner with Marketing team to monitor all feedback channels (i.e. App stores, ratings prompts) to determine trends and plan for feedback campaigns
  • Roadmap & Strategy for E*TRADE Mobile API
    • Collaborate with iOS and Android Product Owners on enhancements that require Mobile API updates
    • Keep in tune with wealth management industry competitor activity and trends related to mobile
    • Gather, organize, and assimilate internal and external feedback to identify and prioritize product gaps, enhancements, and new features
    • Contribute to business justification for key new features and funding requests, factoring in customer needs, quantitative business case projections, and the competitive landscape
    • Track and communicate progress on core mobile KPIs


Skills Required:

  • 4-8 years of experience as software or digital product manager, business analyst or equivalent with experience working within an agile/scrum development process
  • Proficient at defining, analyzing, documenting, and communicating product and software requirements in an agile software development setting
  • Keen intellect – ability to gather, analyze and synthesize a significant amount of information, and turn it into clear and actionable product requirements
  • Naturally curious, analytical, and data-driven – demonstrated track record of utilizing data to measure performance, identify opportunities, and make successful decisions
  • Experience collaborating with UI/UX designers and developers to deliver client-friendly products and user experiences
  • Understanding and knowledge of web and mobile technologies
  • Written and verbal communication skills able to effectively interact and influence a diverse set of business and technical stakeholders
  • Efficient at managing multiple projects and initiatives concurrently under deadline constraints
  • Self-motivated, detailed-oriented, team player, and organized
  • Knowledge or exposure to wealth management and online brokerage/banking preferred
