About the Role

Legal Entity Controllers is responsible for the accounting, reporting and oversight of core legal entities. This includes preparation of financial statements, federal and local regulatory filings, monthly closing of the Firms books and records, analytics, entity-specific accounting policy, legal entity maintenance, account reconciliation and account structure maintenance. The team in Tokyo works closely with the New York, London, Hong Kong, Glasgow, and Mumbai offices.

You will:

  • Maintain, validate and be accountable with trading products statutory ledger under FIEA, applying strong technical judgment to ensure data integrity, reconcile system outputs, and identify issues impacting statutory ledger
  • Independently identify, analyze, and flag accounting or data issues, assess their impact, and propose solutions, escalating appropriately
  • Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for entities in Japan
  • Review new and existing products and business activities in collaboration with Institutional Securities Group Finance, Tax and relevant teams to mitigate accounting and audit risks
  • Contribute to initiatives and process improvements to strengthen control, transparency, and efficiency

Qualifications, Skills & Requirements

  • Solid hands-on experience with at least one of the following areas: financial products, financial reporting or audited financial statements
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and take ownership of deliverables
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to data quality and root cause investigation navigating complex systems and data flow
  • Ability to work effectively with global teams across regions and time zones
  • Strong communication skills (English proficiency required)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • University degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
  • Approximately 4 years of relevant experience in a related field
