DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Des Moines, IA.
In this role will make an impact in the following ways:
- Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
- Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
- Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
- Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
- Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
- Maintain own tools
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics
- Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
- Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources.
- Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level.
- Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts.
- Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software
Compensation and Benefits: Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Education: Licenses, Certifications: Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred), Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution, Locally valid driving permit (Preferred), This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience: Minimal level of work shop experience required, Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
QUALIFICATIONS
Completes repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under supervision
- Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding
- Ensures accountability - Holding self and others accountable to meet commitments.
- Mechanical Knowledge - Demonstrates knowledge of Cummins and industry standards by complying with all safe work procedures including Personal Protective Equipment to create a safe work environment; applies mechanical principles and theories using appropriate tools and procedures to diagnose and repair products safely and efficiently.
- Repairs and maintains mechanical/electrical products following guidelines, using required tools within standard repair time to ensure a quality repair; disassembles and assembles engines or power generators following guidelines, using required tools to ensure a clean and organized environment; inspects and replaces parts and components following re-use guidelines to minimize customers cost of ownership; performs progressive damage check following guidelines to restore to pre-failure condition.- A current valid license is required for this role- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations- This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical- 3 years driving experience- This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use- Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age- A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire- Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older - This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
