The IT Project Senior Manager accomplishes results through the management of professional team(s) and department(s), exhibiting strong project and general management skills. This role integrates subject matter and industry expertise within the Custody domain that is part of Investor Services at Citi and contributes to standards around which others will operate. It requires an in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function, as well as how they coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the entire function. Basic commercial awareness is essential. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence, and convince others, particularly colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. This role holds responsibility for the volume, quality, timeliness, and delivery of end results for Custody. The individual may have responsibility for planning, budgeting, execution within their area. The role may or may not have direct reports.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees all technology components of diverse, moderately complex IT projects, including project planning, execution, timing, functionality, quality, and cost.
• Utilizes expertise and leadership skills to direct staff and to resolve issues to ensure project goals and requirements are met.
• Communicates effectively and articulately with all stakeholders, from project teams to senior management and external parties, providing timely and accurate information and status updates.
• Ability to clearly and persuasively articulate the technology point of view to senior stakeholders across various functions including Operations, Product (Business), Risk & Control, and in external discussions.
• Has shared responsibility for budget, policy formulation, and planning.
• Contributes to the formulation of strategies for IT project leadership and other functional areas.
• Demonstrates a general management inclination, actively participating in broader organizational initiatives beyond direct project management responsibilities.
• Applies an in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues that have an impact beyond own area.
• Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of how areas of IT project leadership collectively integrate to contribute to achieving business goals.
• Provides evaluative judgment based on an analysis of factual information in complicated and unique situations.
• Directly impacts the IT project leadership area through responsibility for the delivery of end results and shared responsibility for budget management; accountable for resource planning.
• Ensures essential procedures are followed and contributes to defining standards.
• Persuades and influences others through communication and diplomacy skills; may negotiate with external parties.
• While not directly responsible for coding, the individual should be comfortable and proficient in reviewing project design and code developed by the team.
• Appropriately assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervising the activity of others and creating accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

• 6-10 years’ experience in a related technology role with commensurate people management experience.
• Strong software development background, preferably with hands-on experience in .Net and SQL Server technologies.
• Should have extensive experience in Financial Services / Banking area.
• Experience in Back office Equity Settlement would be a plus.
• Exposure to Custody would be a definite advantage.

Education:

• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Master’s degree.
