The Acquisition & Customer Marketing (ACM) team within the International Card Services (ICS) Centre of Excellence (CoE) drives market success across a portfolio of 23 international markets. The way we acquire, onboard, and grow engagement with our prospects and cardmembers across international is more important than ever to continue to enable the strong trajectory of international and growth contribution to American Express.
This role is an exciting new opportunity as part of the International ACM organization to revolutionize the company’s future by attracting and acquiring new card members. ACM creates and collectively delivers the next horizon growth strategy, powered by investments, capabilities and marketing solutions that are customer centric, innovative and scalable.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and build a compelling vision and culture for a new team of two direct reports and ~10 exceptionally creative, customer-centric and results-oriented marketers. Instill a philosophy that encourages diversity of thought and values-led leadership that supports ongoing coaching and development.
- Develop strategy and POV to drive innovation and customer-first acquisition experience across international markets, whilst balancing market nuances, culture and regulatory operating environments.
- Create a 3-5 year ambition for doubling ICS revenue growth and supporting plan to achieve that growth utilizing acquisition capability optimization, onboarding efficiencies, new accounts process enhancements, underwriting and decisioning protocols advancements across international.
- Lead collaboration across EDDS, Finance, Technology and ICS local market teams to define our mid-to-lower funnel strategy including funnel conversion optimization (E-Apply), Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and uplift of our American Express landing page (Card Shop) taking into consideration market nuances across international.
- Define the delivery strategy for ICS Acquisition that balances the need to drive demand and prospect conversion with profitable sustainable growth. Considerations to include understanding best practices on prospect web experiences and application journey, market competitiveness and technological advances, and competitiveness across the product line strategy at a market level.
- Lead with an external perspective to deploy tests and cultivate new growth opportunities.
- Partner with Analytics teams to ensure we have the appropriate reporting to drive clearer measurement of mid-to-lower funnel activity attribution and contribution to business goals.
- Manage annual technology prioritization process for international acquisition capabilities across a complex technological infrastructure. Guiding investment decision for optimal returns for international markets.
- Champion enterprise-wide collaboration, establishing a new team with key stakeholders including, Product, EDDS, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Risk, Capabilities, New Accounts, Operations and Marketing Partners.
- Drive broader shareholder, customer and colleague agenda and market strategic priorities by actively participating and providing thought leadership as part of the ICS ACM Leadership Team.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional marketing experience (brand, acquisition, and digital).
- Marketing, Product Development and Acquisition experience with strategic imperative of measuring financial impact of investment in digital technology and align contributions to growth models and plans.
- Robust acquisition initiative planning and delivery experience with a proven track record of driving results and delivering innovative digital experiences.
- Proven track record of developing and executing winning acquisition strategy and driving results leveraging own resources and through others outside direct reporting line.
- Highly resilient with an ability to drive results in challenging conditions and thriving in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
- Highly strategic and creative thinker with the ability to work through unstructured problems to develop clear a vision and executable action plans.
- Experienced people leader with strong track record of empowering and inspiring a team and a community of marketers, and the focus and dedication to develop outstanding leaders.
- Excellent communicator with outstanding ability to build strong relationships across the Blue Box, ability to bring Amex stakeholders along the journey, navigate through challenges and role model “one team” mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with a range of stakeholders (both internal and external) to drive a customer-led agenda forward, identify win-win solutions and deliver against key initiatives. First-hand partnership experience with product development and technology teams.
