We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Cummins’ business in North Charleston, SC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Support safe, compliant production by assisting in the design and implementation of manufacturing processes that meet safety requirements, product specifications, and daily/weekly build targets.

Improve equipment and process capability by applying core manufacturing principles (e.g., standard work, error-proofing, cycle-time analysis) to reduce defects, downtime, and variability.

Advance continuous improvement by helping develop standards and work methods using CI tools (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, PDCA), driving measurable gains in quality, cost, and delivery.

Enable data‑driven decisions by gathering and analyzing process data (throughput, scrap, first‑pass yield) to identify bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions.

Collaborate across functions and suppliers to execute assigned project tasks—coordinating with production, quality, maintenance, and external partners to keep activities on schedule.

Contribute to launch readiness by supporting process trials, work instruction updates, and operator training to ensure smooth implementation and stable ramp‑up.

Strengthen problem solving and standardization by assisting with root cause analyses and documenting robust, repeatable solutions that prevent recurrence.

Grow Cummins‑specific expertise by learning and applying company manufacturing practices and standards, progressively increasing ownership and delivering higher‑value contributions over time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Collaborate and communicate with clarity to build strong partnerships, work effectively across diverse teams, and tailor communication to meet the needs of different audiences and stakeholders.

Champion safety and ergonomic excellence by modeling proactive health and safety behaviors, applying ergonomic and workstation design principles, and ensuring manufacturing processes minimize risk and support an injury‑free workplace.

Apply strong technical manufacturing capability by interpreting drawings, selecting appropriate equipment and fixtures, modeling processes through digital tools, and documenting standardized work to ensure consistent, high‑quality manufacturing outcomes.

Drive continuous improvement and effective problem solving by recognizing improvement opportunities, using structured methodologies to resolve root causes, valuing diverse perspectives, and implementing data‑driven changes that enhance quality, cost, and efficiency.
