What you’ll do in the role:

Morgan Stanley Services Group, Inc. is seeking a Vice President, Risk / Policy Management in New York, New York  to analyze and review Electronic Trading algorithms, including controls and testing methods, as part of the Second Line of Defense oversight. Oversee Electronic Trading limits and controls to ensure the business is consistent with Firms strategy. Implementation of the governance and controls policy for eTrading including assisting in the development of new controls where appropriate. Provide senior management with an independent view of the Firm's Electronic Trading Risks in relation to information and technology practices. Assess the effectiveness of relevant eTrading control environment. Liaise with various control and process owners in Operational Risk Coverage. Review technology and security risk issues as well as internal and external incidents in order to help inform the 2nd line of defense independent view of the eTrading and overall technology and security risk posture of the Firm and its underlying legal entities. Communicate key risks to senior management and risk committees with Electronic Trading updates. Develop and review metrics and escalation reports to monitor risk and control effectiveness, issues and trends. Collaborate across a diverse set of stakeholders including Sales and Trading Business Units, Desk Strategists, Business Unit Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit, Technology, and Regulatory Relations. Support the escalation of emerging or developing risks as the technological landscape evolves. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

What you’ll bring to the role:

-Requires a Bachelor’s in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.

-Requires five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years as a Analyst, Vice President, S&T Desk Support, Risk Management, or related occupation.

-Requires five (5) years of experience with the following skills:

  • Electronic trading concepts, providing risk oversight of trading and controls systems, and providing risk management of trading;
  • Databases including BOXI and VBA;
  • Algorithmic and Direct Market Access (DMA) trading concepts;
  • Market and Operational Risks;
  • Monitoring and managing risk limits;
  • Reviewing risk limits;
  • Electronic trading technologies including order management systems, order routers, risk and control systems;
  • Electronic trading concepts including high frequency trading, on exchange/off exchange liquidity, sponsored market access;
  • Understanding possible impact of changes in market micro-structure to risks involved in electronic trading business;
  • Electronic trading regulatory rules including Market Access Rules (15c3-5);
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), testing and QA; and
  • Utilizing Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $219,000 and $219,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
