The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking candidates to work as a part of the Global Product Group (GPG) Power Transformers. The Global Product Specialist (GPS) will work directly with the Global Product Manager (GPM) for Industrial & Specialty (I&S) Transformers and collaborate with our worldwide network of R&D centers, and local business teams to capture and translate customer requirements into improvements of existing solutions and set the directions for new product developments.
It is an opportunity for transformer engineering and R&D experts to apply their knowledge to help customers with demanding applications and be part of joint development of new solutions for the changing electrical grid. Additionally, the work will require participation in technical meetings, international standards development, and contributing and developing the industry knowledge on power transformer technology.
The GPS as part of the team and in his role will be accountable to ensure competitiveness of products, strong value differentiation and technological leadership for the converter transformers and their relater applications with focus on customer satisfaction and profitable growth.
How you will make an impact
You will analyze market situation by following and understanding international standards, market & customer requirements, and their impact on the portfolio.
You will conduct competitor analyses including identification of technical product gaps and with a high focus on competitiveness opportunities while evaluating the portfolio position.
You will manage the technical specifications of Industrial and Specialty Power transformers and support Global Product Manager in developing business cases for product developments, transfer of technologies, maintenance, and competitiveness with a high focus on Renewable Power Generation Transformers and on Variable Frequency Drive Transformers
You will systematically collect and share market technical data to validate performance of products and you will translate customer/market requirements into technical requirement specifications for new products and portfolio development projects following internal gate model process.
You will prepare product technical communication materials (white papers), including support for new product launches.
You will keep engineering, operations, sales and channels informed on topics related to Industrial and Specialty transformers including market, competition, quality, configurations and trends.
You will provide support to data quality improvement, sales, participate in customer meetings and attend trade shows and conferences on request to better identify customer values, pain-points and needs.
You will ensure appropriate training material for Industrial and Specialty transformers – with particular focus on Renewable Power Generation Transformers and on Variable Frequency Drive Transformers – is available for use both internally and externally.
Your background
MSc or BSc Engineering degree
10+ years of experience in transformer engineering and/or Research & Development, including electrical design experience from working in a factory with production process and cost structure understanding
Technical knowledge of transformer portfolio for power electronic/converter applications such as but not limited to variable speed/frequency drives, converters for renewable energy generation, and converters for general industrial and marine applications
Experience in interaction with international customers and/or standardization groups.
Good communication and presentations skills.
Fluent English, experience with writing technical papers and/or reports.
