What you’ll do in the role:
Morgan Stanley Bank, N.A. seeks a Vice President, Risk / Policy Management in New York, NY to author credit memos and present views to senior credit professionals. Perform financial, credit and industry analyses, including cash flow modeling for general corporates and balance sheet stress for financial institutions, to establish credit-specific ratings. Review, perform diligence, and recommend actions on new
lending and trade requests to minimize risk. Track and monitor counterparty compliance in accordance with
contractual terms and Firm limits. Monitor public ratings of counterparties, and keep current on industry trends and rating agency criteria. Engage on credit discussions with stakeholders including, business units,
Internal Audit, and regulators. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.
What you’ll bring to the role:
-Requires a Master’s in Economics, Finance, or related field
-Requires two (2) years of experience in the position offered or two (2) years as an Associate, Analyst, Assistant Vice President, or a related occupation
-Requires two (2) years of experience with the following skills:
- Leading underwriting and portfolio management of loans to corporate borrowers in the Financial Institutions industry, including lending to Early-Stage High-Growth companies;
- negotiating credit terms and structure with the business unit and clients;
- Applying credit and industry risk knowledge to assign internal credit ratings, loss given default designations, and regulatory risk ratings;
- Managing single name limits set by the credit committee, risk committee and/or board levels;
- setting and managing risk-based credit counterparty limits on a single basis;
- Analyzing and communicating to senior stakeholders potential risks regarding financial performance of individual issuers as well as potential risks to corporate lending exposure from developments in the Financial Institutions industry;
- supervising credit research and corporate finance analysis to provide independent risk recommendations to senior management;
- Preparing documentation, as well as engaging in discussions and responding to requests from examiners, as part of the Shared National Credit and other regulatory exams;
- Managing projects focused on implementation of enhancements;
- Utilizing Bloomberg, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, SNL / Cap IQ, and third-party research;
- reviewing and modeling cash flow projections;
- and balance sheet stress analysis.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $165,000 and $205,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
