Job Summary

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for supporting the availability, reliability, and performance of electrical systems, utilities, and manufacturing equipment across the plant. This role assists in planning and executing preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance while supporting Manufacturing Engineering, IT hardware systems, quality, and productivity goals. The position plays a key role in troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards, while also mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities 1. Maintenance Planning & Execution

  • Assist in planning and execution of preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance activities.
  • Support development and improvement of maintenance processes to ensure equipment availability and capability.
  • Interpret maintenance data and records to improve equipment reliability.

2. Equipment Troubleshooting & Support

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment issues in collaboration with maintenance, facilities, quality, and manufacturing engineering teams.
  • Support line employees in basic maintenance procedures and equipment handling.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

3. Electrical Systems & Controls

  • Support maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems, controls, and automation equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of controls engineering for equipment upgrades and improvements.
  • Review and support integration of hardware and software for manufacturing systems.

4. Inventory & Spare Parts Management

  • Assist in managing spare parts and indirect materials inventory using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ensure availability of critical spares to minimize downtime.

5. Equipment Design & Procurement Support

  • Assist in equipment design evaluations and capital procurement processes.
  • Support selection of manufacturing equipment aligned with Cummins specifications and business needs.

6. Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction.
  • Apply lean and waste reduction methodologies to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Support ergonomic improvements to enhance workplace safety and productivity.

7. Quality, Documentation & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain process documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and manufacturing processes.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

8. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)

  • Follow all HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify hazards and promote safe working practices.
  • Support initiatives to reduce risks related to electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

9. Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Mentor and support development of junior team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent with 7–10 years of relevant experience , OR
  • Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent with 12+ years of relevant experience .
  • Electrical licensing may be required for compliance with local regulations or export control requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Relevant experience in maintenance, electrical systems, or manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and process improvement.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a plant environment.
  • Exposure to maintenance planning, CMMS systems, and equipment reliability improvement is preferred.
