Role Overview
The MBA Intern, Portfolio Management will support the Portfolio Management team in the strategic and operational management of Invesco’s public non‑listed REIT, INREIT. This internship is designed to provide hands‑on exposure to real estate portfolio management, investment analysis, and fund‑level decision‑making within a large institutional platform.
The intern will work closely with members of the portfolio management team and cross‑functional partners to assist with asset‑level analysis, fund modeling, valuations, and investor‑facing materials. This role offers meaningful responsibility, direct visibility into investment decisions, and a strong learning experience for MBA candidates pursuing careers in real estate, investments, or asset management.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy Support: Assist with tracking investment objectives at both the asset and fund level. Help evaluate how new and existing investments contribute to portfolio performance, diversification, and risk objectives.
Valuations & Asset Review: Support the monthly valuation process by helping review valuation forecasts, external appraisals, and asset‑level assumptions in coordination with investment team members.
Performance Analysis: Analyze asset and fund performance relative to underwriting and benchmarks. Prepare summaries and exhibits highlighting key drivers, risks, and variances to expectations.
Fund Modeling & Analytics: Assist with maintaining and updating fund‑level models, including portfolio dashboards, debt schedules, and liquidity forecasts. Run sensitivities and scenario analyses to evaluate performance and balance sheet impacts.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work alongside Operations, Accounting, Legal, and Product Management teams to support reporting accuracy, data consistency, and ongoing portfolio initiatives.
Board & Investor Materials: Help prepare presentation materials for internal committees, board reporting, and client/investor communications. Assist in ensuring materials are clear, accurate, and decision‑oriented.
Candidate Qualifications
Currently enrolled in an MBA program, with a focus on Finance, Real Estate, Strategy, or a related field.
Prior experience in real estate, investment banking, private equity, asset management, or corporate finance preferred but not required.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Argus or real estate financial models is a plus.
Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate insights clearly and concisely.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast‑paced environment.
Intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic, and proficiency in generative AI applications.
