DESCRIPTION

Watch this video to learn more about Cummins Inc.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

 Deliver consistent, reliable quality checks that ensure every product leaving the line meets technical specifications, reducing defects and customer complaints.

 Act as a critical safeguard on the production line by identifying issues early and preventing non-conforming products from reaching the next stage or the customer.

 Strengthen product integrity by accurately comparing physical characteristics against specifications using both basic and advanced measurement tools.

 Improve operational efficiency by quickly isolating and segregating defective products, minimizing disruption and rework costs.

 Create clear, traceable records of quality issues, enabling better root-cause analysis and continuous improvement across teams.

 Elevate team capability by training others on proper measurement techniques, quality standards, and documentation practices.

 Reinforce a culture of quality by consistently adhering to and modeling company norms and standards in every inspection and decision.

 Contribute to long-term process improvements by spotting recurring defects and providing actionable feedback to engineering and production teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful, you will need to consistently demonstrate the following:

 Be action-oriented by jumping on quality issues quickly, staying energized on the production floor, and not hesitating to take ownership of tough inspection or defect-resolution challenges.

 Collaborate across teams (production, engineering, and quality) so problems are solved faster and root causes are addressed, not just symptoms.

 Communicate clearly and precisely when documenting defects, explaining measurement results, or training others—especially translating technical findings into simple, actionable insights.

 Keep a strong customer focus by understanding that every inspection directly impacts end-user satisfaction, safety, and trust in the product.

 Demonstrate strong decision quality by confidently determining pass/fail outcomes, escalating issues when needed, and keeping production moving without compromising standards.

 Manage conflict effectively when quality issues slow production—balancing urgency with standards while maintaining professionalism and minimizing friction.

 Be resourceful by making the most of available measurement tools, time, and personnel, and adapting quickly when constraints arise on the line.

 Apply technical excellence through measurement science, quality process management (like SPC, FMEA, and audits), respect for diverse perspectives, and an understanding of laboratory/quality system discipline to ensure accurate, compliant, and repeatable results.
