Reuters is seeking a sharp, bilingual journalist to join our real-time news operation in Seoul, to deliver split-second headlines and stories on South Korea’s forex, bond markets, and economic policy. This is an opportunity to work in a high-pressure, dynamic environment for the world’s most trusted news organization, where accuracy, speed, and freedom from bias are paramount. 

About the Role:
As a Korean Language Reporter, you will:

  • Drive Real-Time Coverage: Produce headlines and market news accurately and quickly, ensuring our subscription-based clients receive market-moving information first.

  • Monitor Key Markets: Identify and report on key milestones in the dollar-won and treasury bond futures markets.

  • Handle Economic Data: Manage both real-time and embargoed data releases from the Bank of Korea, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR), and Ministry of Data and Statistics (MODS).

  • Uphold Standards: operate strictly in accordance with the Thomson Reuters Trust Principles, ensuring all content is sourced, balanced, and verified. 

About You:
To be a fit for this role, you will likely have:

  • Fluent Bilingual Ability: Native-level proficiency in Korean and high-level proficiency in English, with the ability to translate complex financial terms instantly.

  • News Judgment: The ability to spot a story in a sea of data and understand why it matters to a global audience.

  • Ability to work under time pressure

  • Financial Literacy: A solid understanding of how foreign exchange, bonds, and equity markets operate.
