Java Developer - Director - Software Engineering

We’re seeking someone to join our Institutional Securities Technology team as a Senior Java developer, in PWM Asia & Australia tech, to focus on design, development & delivery of business and technology initiatives while driving engineering excellence.

In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities.

This is Director position that manages and optimizes the technical environment and end-user experience across various workplace technologies for end-users, ensuring seamless operations and user satisfaction across the organization.

What you’ll do in the role:

• Build high-quality technology solutions enforcing strong engineering standards and best practices.

• As an individual contributor (IC) demonstrate strong technical skills and independently drive business/technology initiatives

• Leverage AI tooling and best practices to accelerate development/SDLC process and drive efficiency

• Lead the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from requirement gathering, hands-on development, to deployment and maintenance.

• Engage with business stakeholders and technology senior management to review progress and gather feedback on initiatives.

• Conduct regular code reviews to maintain high-quality coding standards.

• Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving ability

What you’ll bring to the role:

• 6-10 years of overall experience in Application Development

• Hands-on development experience in Java and open-source server-side technologies.

• Strong experience in System/Application Design and Object-Oriented development.

• Hands on experience using AI solutions e.g. GitHub Copilot (or similar), MCPs, Agents AI.

• Tech Skills – Java, Spring Boot, REST API/Microservices, MQ/Kafka, SQL/NoSQL DB (MongoDB/Postgres), GitHub Copilot, Agentic AI, MCP, CI/CD, DevOps.

• Preferred Tech Skills – Web/Mobile App development experience using React/Node.js, Capacitor and native technologies

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
