Job Summary:
Conducts complex analysis of markets, supply chains, and supply base; applies analysis to sourcing process improvement initiatives. Identifies qualified suppliers and executes sound source selection processes. Has regular interface with suppliers within area of responsibility and maintains the supplier relationship. Understands how key procurement principles are used toward assuring supply. Sources specialized items and executes complex sourcing strategies in accordance with agreed upong sourcing strategy / plans at the optimum cost, quality and relationship.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently carries out sourcing activities with full consideration for the impact of those activities on the end-to-end supply chain. Executes sourcing tactics of varying complexity in accordance with established category/commodity strategies reflecting the optimum cost, quality, delivery. Participates in sourcing and category commodity strategy formulation. Analyzes complex sourcing and procurement initiatives and processes in support of the delivery of cost effective and high quality goods and services. Prepares and presents to senior procurement/sourcing leadership recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative courses of action. Ensures consistent application of sourcing procedures and processes. Supports procurement/sourcing management in activities such as price benchmarking, vendor management, industry and market analysis, process analysis, and model building. May lead a team of sourcing analysts and specialists at the business unit category and/or international procurement organization (IPO) regional level. Leads analysis projects/initiatives providing coaching to less experienced analysts and specialists. Negotiates select contracts. Develops and maintains effective relationships with suppliers to the benefit of both parties. Understands the importance of compliance and is alert to situations that can pose risk to Cummins Inc.

Category Strategy Development - Establishes category strategy using Total Value Performance (TVP) approach to define the Supply Base, Tooling and Technology Strategy to meet all current and future Cummins' needs; Manages risk and inclusion of diverse suppliers.
Cost and Value Management - Establishes and controls product and service costs using functional tools to deliver and track product and services at competitive prices. Ensures competitiveness of Cummins products in our markets while preserving desired margins. Utilizes Total Cost Opportunity (TCO) model methodology.
Intellectual Property Management - Assures protection of Cummins Intellectual Property to optimize the use of intellectual property for Cummins future competitive advantage by engaging the Legal and Procurement function; assures Cummins’ intellectual property ownership rights are clearly defined in executed agreements.
Negotiations Excellence - Utilizes tools and methods in negotiations to achieve Cummins stakeholder objectives and achieve a mutually agreed upon all contract terms between all parties.
Procurement Ethics - Avoids supplier engagement that may compromise supplier sourcing, selection, and management processes and seeks counsel to ensure compliance.
Procurement Policies, Procedures, Tools - Understands all of the relevant Procurement policies and procedures and complies with them in daily work; Masters all tools required to conduct procurement work. Knows how to access documents in the appropriate Document Management System (DMS) and/or who to ask if clarification or expansion of the information contained in each document is needed.
Sourcing - Utilizes the purchasing functional system to support the Request For Quote process and establish a Total Cost of Ownership comparison of suppliers based on the category strategy and define the supplier that is most likely to meet Cummins and customer's needs.
Supplier Contract Development - Develops contracts based on the templates available that cover commercial and legal relationship between Cummins and supplier; incorporates commercial requirements and legal requirements in the region(s) that are covered by the contracts; drives engagement between stakeholders following the Supplier Agreement Contracting Process (SACP) and negotiations excellence skills.
Supplier Relationship Management - Defines category’s key/strategic suppliers. Manages the relationship of those suppliers using agreed Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process with established work plan, senior sponsor meetings, and scorecards. Defines and evaluates a collaborative relationship with a category’s key/strategic suppliers to deliver value to Cummins and the supplier.
Supply Base Risk Management - Minimize supplier risk to Cummins by proactively mitigating risks through use of risk analysis tools and risk mitigation playbook to manage three key risk: 1) Continuity of Supply, 2) Reputational Risk, and 3) Risk to our Margins of parts. By minimize disruption and services throughout supply chain. Manage and leverage supplier selection and dual sourcing opportunities as a first line of defense against supplier risk.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent degree in field appropriate for the function required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Intermediate level of related work experience required
QUALIFICATIONS
Engineering graduate with 12+ years of experience in Procurement.
Complete commodity Handling of Forgings (Hot & Cold), Casting commodity. Some high level knowledge of Fasteners, Stamping & Machining is preferred
Contact management, RFQ Handling, Price settlement & Negotiations, Supplier Relationship management experience preferred
