Job Summary

The Site Quality Engineer – Senior creates value for the assigned site by leading continuous improvement initiatives toward defect-free processes that meet customer requirements and achieve business results. The role ensures robust incoming quality, metrology excellence, process compliance, and strong supplier coordination while supporting plant quality systems and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities Incoming Quality & Supplier Coordination

  • Plan and execute incoming quality inspections to ensure material conformance.
  • Ensure GRN clearance within established turnaround targets.
  • Execute Reaction Step 3 to maintain business continuity and minimize disruptions.
  • Coordinate closely with global suppliers on quality concerns and containment actions.
  • Partner with SQI for effective closure of MNCs and SCARs.
  • Track and monitor supplier performance metrics.
  • Participate in and support supplier improvement plans.

Metrology & DMC (Dimensional Measurement Center)

  • Lead measurement activities at MIW to ensure timely release of setup changes and preventive checks.
  • Ensure upkeep, calibration, and upgradation of high-precision DMC equipment.
  • Drive supplier measurement correlation activities.
  • Ensure timely calibration and MSA activities across CFS.
  • Apply measurement science principles to reduce uncertainty and ensure traceability.

Plant Quality & Customer Focus

  • Lead containment and corrective actions related to plant customer issues.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF, customer-specific requirements, APQP, PPAP, and other applicable standards.
  • Support and/or lead Safe Launch activities during VPI.
  • Verify product and process changes to ensure key performance measures are met.
  • Analyze data to support fact-based decision-making.

Continuous Improvement & Quality Systems

  • Lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing, 7-Step Problem Solving, and IQTM methodologies.
  • Apply AIAG core tools (FMEA, SPC, Control Plans, Capability Studies, Process Audits).
  • Support quality audits and maintain Quality Management Systems compliance.
  • Leverage Quality 4.0 tools, digitization, and cloud-based systems to enhance quality performance.
  • Serve as a quality technical resource and mentor less experienced team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical/scientific discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated role competence in manufacturing quality.
  • May require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of incoming inspection processes and supplier quality coordination.
  • Proficiency in welding process awareness and manufacturing process controls (as applicable to plant operations).
  • Strong metrology and measurement science expertise (dimensional measurement, calibration, MSA, correlation studies).
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and AIAG core tools.
  • Strong statistical analysis and data interpretation capability.
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems (IATF and customer-specific requirements).
  • Project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder influence skills.
  • Ability to drive vision, accountability, and talent development within teams

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, or Program Management within the automotive or similarly regulated industry.
  • 3- 5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing or quality role.
  • Experience in incoming inspection, supplier coordination, metrology, and plant quality systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading continuous improvement and corrective action initiatives.
