We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Financial Tech Business Analyst. The ideal candidate for this role blends a technical skillset with strong communication skills.

This is a Financial Tech Business Analyst role at Director level which is part of the job family responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying needs, and establishing requirements to enhance efficiency and productivity through a blend of business acumen and analytical skills.

What You’ll Do

  • The ISG Trade Surveillance group is responsible for the prevention and investigation of abusive, manipulative, or illegal trading practices in the securities markets that are either customer or firm initiated.

  • This group identifies patterns of trading behavior across multiple asset classes that may be an indication of market manipulation before these can compromise the firm’s reputation.

  • Lead end to end business analysis efforts for complex, data intensive technology initiatives

  • Partner with business stakeholders to define scope, objectives, and detailed functional requirements

  • Build trusted relationships with clients and senior stakeholders; manage expectations and delivery outcomes

  • Develop prototypes, analytical models, and proof of concepts to support business decision making

  • Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, and use cases

  • Collaborate with internal and external data providers to ensure surveillance and model requirements are met

  • Work closely with engineering teams to support solution design and technical specifications

  • Lead and manage QA activities, including automated test case creation, planning and execution

  • Perform independent validation with a strong focus on client outcomes, controls, and regulatory considerations

  • Support ongoing enhancements, user feedback, and issue investigation’

  • Leverage GenAI and modern analytics tools to improve requirements quality, testing efficiency, and delivery speed

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of total experience combining Business Analysis and hands-on software development experience within financial services or financial technology.

  • Strong data analysis skills, including hands-on experience with SQL

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders

  • The candidate should be capable of understanding and solving highly complex problems, have excellent communication skills and have experience in financial services, preferably in the areas of investment banking and trading

  • Solid understanding of Capital Markets, preferably in Sales & Trading or Investment Banking

  • Experience working with trade data, position data, and reference data

  • Knowledge of SDLC methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall

  • Experience delivering medium-to-large-scale technology or data programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Trade Surveillance or market abuse monitoring

  • Experience with GitHub copilot or similar tools

  • Background working in highly regulated, risk focused environments

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 120,000 and 165,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
