About the team

Watch this video to learn more about Zillow

At Zillow, we believe home should be more than just a dream. Our purpose is to make home a reality for more and more people.

The Zillow Home Loans (ZHL) Product team is focused on delivering a home financing journey that gives consumers more confidence, transparency, and ease than they can find anywhere else, in a way that is both scalable and profitable. We are reimagining the financing process by integrating it into the Zillow experience used by millions of Americans, connecting it into agent tools and technology, and building systems that empower our operators to deliver consistently at the highest standards.

We are a product team with a strong mix of domain expertise and product craft. We partner closely with Engineering, AI, Design and Research, Marketing, and Operations to bring holistic experience innovation to market quickly and to redefine what’s possible in home finance.

About the role

As Senior Product Manager, Work Discovery, you will own how operational work is defined, surfaced, prioritized, and completed across the workforce throughout the ZHL mortgage lifecycle. At its core, this role is about turning complex operational processes into repeatable, system‑orchestrated workflows that reliably move borrowers from first contact through funded loan.

Your goal is to ensure that, at any point in time, an operator can open their tools and immediately understand the most important actions they need to take, why those actions matter, and how to complete them efficiently. By systematizing work in this way, you enable ZHL to flex how and where work is performed—allowing discrete units of work to be completed by different operator roles, flexible labor pools, or automated systems—while maintaining consistent service levels and cost efficiency.

This role sits on the Mortgage Operating System and Engagement team and is the product owner of work discovery patterns across ZHL. While other teams own underlying platforms (e.g., task and workflow engines, routing and capacity platforms, mortgage‑specific point solutions), you own how those capabilities are assembled into a cohesive, end‑to‑end operator experience.

Success in this role means operators consistently know what to do next and why, operational processes are more consistent and observable across ZHL, and borrower journeys progress more reliably—enabling ZHL to scale efficiently while delivering consistently high‑quality customer and partner experiences.

You Will Get To

  • Define and own work discovery across the business: how operational work is generated, surfaced, prioritized, and tracked for different ZHL roles throughout the mortgage lifecycle.

  • Design systems that break down complex, multi‑step business processes into clear, actionable, role‑specific units of work, enabling that work to be completed by different operator roles, flexible labor pools, or automated systems—while maintaining an end‑to‑end view of borrower progression.

  • Ensure operator actions are explicitly captured in‑system, enabling consistent advancement of borrowers through defined milestones and improved visibility into process execution.

  • Partner closely with Sales, Fulfillment, and Business Operations leaders to define excellent operational models and encode them into scalable system designs.

  • Collaborate with platform product teams (tasks and workflow, routing and capacity, identity and access) to ensure their capabilities support work discovery needs, identifying gaps and driving prioritization of enhancements.

  • Drive strong adoption by designing systems that meaningfully change operator behavior, reduce cognitive load, and make the right actions the easiest actions.

  • Navigate legacy tooling, system migrations, and regulatory constraints to deliver compliant, secure, and durable solutions that create a foundation for increased automation and AI‑assisted execution over time.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions. In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $148,600.00 - $237,400.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont the standard base pay range for this role is $141,200.00 - $225,600.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.

Who you are

  •  A senior product manager with 5+ years of product management experience, ideally building internal tools, workflow products, or platforms for operationally complex organizations, or equivalent experience. You bring clarity and structure to ambiguous problem spaces and are comfortable defining patterns where none previously existed.

  • A strong systems thinker who can decompose complex, multi‑role processes into streamlined, elegant workflows without losing sight of end‑to‑end outcomes, and who has a demonstrated ability to translate business goals and processes into concrete system designs and shipped outcomes.

  • Experienced working closely with Operations teams (e.g., Sales, Support, Production), with a strong understanding of how systems shape day‑to‑day execution, and deeply empathetic to operators and customers, seeing how internal tools, human behavior, and customer experience are tightly linked.

  • Forward‑looking about how work can evolve over time, designing systems that can progressively shift work between humans, flexible labor pools, and AI‑assisted or automated execution as capabilities mature.

  • Strongly analytical and data‑driven, using data to evaluate system behavior, identify bottlenecks, and improve results.

  • Pragmatic and execution‑oriented, with a bias toward shipping durable solutions that work in real‑world operational environments.

  • Skilled at navigating cross‑functional complexity and aligning diverse stakeholders around clear decisions, trade‑offs, and priorities, and disciplined about ownership and accountability so shared work moves forward with clear direction.

  • Nice to have: experience in one or more of the following—operating in highly regulated environments (e.g., mortgage, finance, healthcare); working with queue‑based, SLA‑driven, or workflow‑oriented systems; integrating AI‑assisted execution into business processes or operational workflows; or working with identity, access controls, and permissioning in complex operational systems.

  • Here at Zillow, we value the experience and perspective of candidates with non‑traditional backgrounds. We encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills or related experiences.

How To Find Flexible Remote Jobs That Allow You To Work From Home or Anywhere

Trying to find a flexible remote job? You should search for different terms depending on exactly the type of job you’re looking for. Some of the most common search terms include:

  • Remote Jobs
  • Work From Home Jobs
  • Online Jobs
  • Flexible Jobs
  • Telecommuting Jobs
  • Freelance Jobs

Times have changed, and so has the workforce. Gone are the days of geographical limitations on who companies can hire. Digital nomads are on the rise, but they’re not the only ones looking for flexible jobs. Stay-at-home moms, people with physical mobility issues, and myriad more can benefit from the option to work from home.

You can find all of the types of jobs listed above on our site, and while many of those terms can be used synonymously, it’s good to be able to define them and know what you’re looking for so that you can find a job that’s the best fit for you.

Remote Jobs

A truly remote job allows you to work from anywhere, with no restrictions on timezone, state, or country. So if you’re hoping to be a proper digital nomad, make sure you’re looking for remote jobs. It’s also worth noting that most “remote jobs” are considered full-time roles.

You can learn more about the definition of remote jobs here. Note, Many companies will mention that a job gives you the option to work remotely - it’s good to clarify whether they mean the position can be done remotely full time, or if what they’re really offering are home office days. Phrasing like “option to work remotely once a week” should make it clear that you’re expected to be physically present the rest of the time.

Work From Home Jobs

“Work from home jobs” is one of the most common search terms for folks looking to break away from the restrictions of a traditional office. In fact, it returns 10 times as many results as “remote jobs.” So if you want to cast your net wide, then this may be the way to go… But “work from home jobs” can function as a bit of a catch-all - unlike a search for remote jobs, which will tend to return a number of legitimate full-time opportunities like the ones on our site, work from home jobs can mean a lot of different things. Everything from teaching English online to selling your crafts on Etsy would be considered work from home jobs.

Unlike remote jobs, work from home jobs don’t necessarily mean you’ll have the support of an employer… it’s literally any job that you can do from home. So if you want to see the full breadth of non-office jobs/work that’s available, search for “work from home jobs”... but if you want a full-time role with a 401k that lets you work from anywhere, consider a more tailored search for “remote jobs.”

Online Jobs

“Online jobs” returns even more searches than work from home jobs. Online jobs are any jobs that you can do just by being connected to the internet. Lots of these jobs are part-time, pay by the hour type roles. Think English teacher, online tutor, part-time blogger, resume writer… they tend to be very gig focused, and companies offering these roles will almost always pay you by the hour. Great if you want flexibility, not necessarily if you want stability.

Flexible Jobs

Flexible jobs can mean a lot of different things. You can have an in-office job that’s flexible because you’re allowed to set your own hours. Or because you’re allowed to work from home a certain number of days each month. It might also mean working part-time (or having the option to).

Flexible jobs can also be remote or work from home jobs in which you’re allowed to set your own schedule (though you should note, not all remote/virtual/online jobs are actually flexible - many of them assign strict hours). In conclusion, flexible jobs mean a lot of different things to different people, but if the ability to set your own schedule is important to you, you should definitely be looking for flexible jobs - regardless of whether they’re remote or in-office.

Telecommuting Jobs

A lot of jobs listed as remote jobs are actually telecommuting jobs. Telecommuting jobs are full-time roles with companies who can offer you the flexibility to work from home 99% of the time, but might need you to reside in a certain physical location or time zone due to practical constraints. (You can learn more about the tax reasons for this here.) You might be expected to occasionally go to the office for trainings, or you might need to meet in person with clients in a certain area. These jobs are great if you want both a high degree of flexibility and stability, while remaining in your current area. They’re not ideal for would-be digital nomads.

Freelance Jobs

Freelance jobs are booming in today’s gig economy. They afford you a lot of flexibility because you set your own schedule, and oftentimes your prices. But as noted with online jobs, a lot of times, you’re “freelancing” for a company even though you’re really working for them almost full time.. But instead of paying you as a full-time employee, they’re paying you by the hour or by the product. This is often less preferable to a full-time remote job that offers more stability and better pay. That said, searching for freelance jobs online can be a helpful way to launch your own freelance career. Maybe you start doing freelance work on gig sites like Fiverr, but are ultimately able to go out on your own once you’ve built up a portfolio and client list. It’s at this point that freelance work can become truly lucrative. It’s worth noting that not all freelance work can be done remotely - depending on your skill-sets, you may need to be able to meet in person with your clients.
