The Wealth Management (WM) Chief Data Office (CDO) sits within the WM Risk organization and strives to find the right balance between risk management and business enablement. WM CDO’s mission is to: prevent unauthorized access to or misuse of client sensitive data and assets; abide by relevant privacy laws and regulations; effectively retain, retrieve, and protect information and records at Morgan Stanley; and mitigate risks caused by inaccurate, untimely, or incomplete WM data.
Role Description
The Strategy and Operations Team within the WM CDO seeks a Vice President to support a unified global team positioned to achieve its risk objectives and demonstrate its value add to Morgan Stanley. This individual will manage a team that is responsible for budget, resourcing/hiring needs, space, talent development, and other special projects benefiting the entire team. This individual will also oversee all client engagement activities performed by the team and cybersecurity and fraud prevention marketing efforts.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee a team that coordinates engagements between WM CDO Subject Matter Experts with Ultra-High Net Worth clients/prospects and financial advisors to support business development activities or assist with incident response
- Oversee a team that produces, maintains, and disseminates educational and marketing materials to help clients/prospects and advisors reduce their data security and/or fraud risk
- Manage WM CDO’s overall non-comp budget (e.g., consulting, travel, training, etc.)
- Serve as the point person for all WM CDO external consulting engagements
- Support hiring managers in their recruitment activities
- Provide leadership with transparency and insight into the hiring pipeline and key personnel data points
- Ensure new hires understand the CDO mission/vision and the role they will play in advancing it
- Facilitate touchpoints, communications, and other initiatives that ensure WM CDO team members are driving toward shared objectives (e.g., Monthly All Hands Series, Quarterly New Joiners Series, Bi-Monthly Newsletter)
- Drive WM CDO’s mentorship program to help team members grow their network within CDO and achieve their career goals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7-12 years of relevant experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organization
- Comfort challenging and escalating risks and decisions
- Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills
- Prior management experience
- Ability to independently execute on multiple, simultaneous workstreams and exhibit strong attention to detail
- Expertise in office productivity software, data analysis, and collaboration tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the financial services industry; preferably in wealth management, finance, operations, or technology

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
