Whether executing an IPO, a debt offering, a leveraged buyout, or complex liability management transaction, GCM integrates expertise across Investment Banking and Sales & Trading to deliver seamless advice and sophisticated solutions.

Role Summary:

Global Capital Markets Strats apply artificial intelligence, quantitative modeling, and data science to to identify and develop productivity, revenue generation, and risk reduction solutions for GCM globally. Strats are embedded alongside bankers and syndicate teams to provide quantitative analysis, improve execution efficiency, and develop innovative solutions that differentiate Morgan Stanley’s capital markets franchise.

This is a highly dynamic, fast-paced role with global impact across the Global Capital Markets division. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise and financial intuition to identify opportunities where data, quantitative models, and AI can create measurable value for clients and the firm.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform data-driven analysis to provide strategic insights into industry trends, deal opportunities and client strategies.

  • Leverage AI and advanced analytics to improve processes such as transaction analytics, deal screening, capital markets monitoring, and client deliverables.

  • Drive AI usage and adoption by being a trusted in-house expert on best ways to deploy AI solutions to bankers and clients.

  • Work closely with sector coverage, derivatives coverage, and syndication teams to deliver differentiated quantitative analysis for client pitches and live transactions.

  • Build and maintain software tools, dashboards, and analytics platforms that enhance efficiency in client pitches, transaction execution, and internal reporting.

  • Design and develop scalable software libraries, data pipelines, and analytical frameworks to support capital markets analytics.

  • Own the lifecycle of data products, including data sourcing, architecture design, model implementation, and visualization.

  • Communicate and manage strategic projects for senior bankers and leadership across regions, industry groups, and product teams.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Team player able to work effectively with coworkers (junior and senior), across regions, and industry verticals.

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • 4-+ years of work experience.

  • Strong understanding of capital markets products, valuation, capital structure, and financing transactions.

  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python, R, SQL, or Java.

  • Experience with kdb+/q or other high-performance data systems is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with front-end development languages and frameworks such as React.

  • Experience working with large datasets and time-series financial data.

  • Familiarity with AI/ML techniques and AI-assisted development tools is a plus.

  • Excellent quantitative reasoning, statistical intuition, and problem-solving ability, with the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex quantitative ideas into clear business insights.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and collaborate across global teams.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to risk management, governance, and ethical conduct.

  • Be able to present complex ideas and associated costs for alternative solutions.

  • Act as a leader and role model to the team and others in the division.

  • Ensure risk is mitigated through documented process controls and adherence to escalation matrices.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $225,000 - $250,000 per year for Vice President, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
