The Avaaz team of about 100 staff is spread across 6 continents, campaigns in 21 languages, and is funded through small donations from individual Avaaz members, no big money from governments or corporations. This keeps us independent and allows us to keep a laser focus on doing what the world needs.
Position Overview
Avaaz is looking for a pioneering digital and social media advertising campaigner to help grow our movement. Your main goal will be to build and maintain our Google and Meta advertising strategies, and to be in the lookout for and take advantage of online advertising opportunities on other social media channels. In short - we want you to help us amplify our message, grow our email list, and engage a wider audience.
Working with the Social Media and Growth and Engagement teams, your mission will encompass constant development, execution and analysis of our online advertising strategy, spotting opportunities to build power in our campaigns via digital advertising, leveling-up the organization’s skills in the area of digital marketing, and exploring online advertising opportunities and methodologies that can be put to the service of our campaigns.
As this role sits at the intersection of our communications, movement building and tech work - this role also needs someone who is a seasoned project manager, able to build bridges between various teams. You will need to be able to confidently and clearly communicate with multiple teams in a fast paced environment. This dynamic position offers the unique opportunity to directly contribute to the mission of Avaaz.
Responsibilities
- Iteratively execute, analyze, re-shape, and scale up our digital advertising strategies on Google and Meta platforms.
- Identify and act on emerging opportunities for engagement, employing analytics to refine and scale successful campaigns.
- Work with campaigners to proactively respond to viral moments.
- Support the delivery of growth ads for well-performing campaigns.
- Generate compelling paid content tailored for various social media platforms.
- Testing, publishing and editing online content.
- Working with our team of translators to localize and rewrite communications that are tailored for their target audience.
- Make rigorous use of data and analytics to track, measure and benchmark performance.
- Contribute to Avaaz’s overarching strategic goals, by offering online advertisement insights and innovations that drive our mission forward.
Experience & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring a rich background in digital advertising, social media marketing, and search engine marketing- marked by a proven track record of paid online campaigns.
Key qualifications and experience we are looking for in this role include:
- A solid track record of experience in performance marketing, search engine marketing, or social media advertising
- Expert proficiency in Meta and Google advertising platforms, with a proven track record of successfully crafting, executing, and scaling up paid online advertising, including on Facebook, Instagram and across social media
- A passion for data, with the skills to analyze campaign performance, adapt strategies, and make recommendations accordingly
- Brilliant project management skills with an ability to confidently and clearly communicate with all levels of the organization
- Experience of working with organization similar to Avaaz in role that used online advertising to enhance the power of the organization
- A deep understanding of social media, content creation, and building online communities
- Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to produce engaging and action-driven communications
- Eagerness to explore new technologies and platforms to enhance campaign effectiveness
- Strong interpersonal skills, thriving in a collaborative environment while also capable of independent initiative
- Commitment to global justice, citizen empowerment, and social change.
Location
Avaaz is a virtual organization, with almost all of our work done online. Our staff are based all over the world. For this position, the candidate would ideally be based in the Europe/Africa/Middle East time zones, although other locations may be considered.
