    Position Overview

As an Experience Design Architect on the Experience Design Architecture team supporting Autodesk Fusion, you will support experience strategy and architecture for AI-driven workflows and agent-based systems.  This role exists to bring clarity, coherence, and usability to complex AI experiences; especially where today those experiences feel fragmented or inconsistent.

Reporting to the Director of Experience Architecture on the Autodesk Fusion team, you’ll partner closely with product management, engineering, and AI specialists to ensure AI capabilities are understandable, usable, and valuable to customers in the context of professional end-to-end design and manufacturing workflows. This role is intentionally focused: AI experience architecture is your primary job, not an area to grow into.

This is an opportunity to do strategic work with industry-wide impact and directly improve how professionals design and make products.

Considering candidates based in San Francisco, Portland, Vancouver, or Toronto, with flexibility across the U.S. and Canada.

**To be considered, you must include your resume and portfolio with password/access when applying.**

    Responsibilities

    • Define experience strategy and information architecture for AI-powered capabilities: including assistants, agent-based workflows, and intelligent automation.
    • Design information models, system hierarchies, and mental models that make AI behavior understandable and navigable.
    • Establish scalable patterns for organizing, naming, surfacing, and sequencing AI-driven information and actions.
    • Lead the design of onboarding and learning experiences that explain system capabilities, constraints, and outcomes.
    • Identify fragmentation and inconsistency across AI experiences and drive architectural alignment.
    • Use prototypes, models, and scenarios to test and communicate experience and architecture decisions.
    • Partner closely with product, engineering, and applied AI teams to align system architecture and user-facing structures.
    • Facilitate cross-functional working sessions to align on AI interaction principles, agent behavior, and experience standards.
    • Ensure experience quality through ongoing engagement in reviews and delivery cycles, with a focus on usability, clarity, and customer confidence.
    • Mentor designers and help raise organizational fluency around designing effective AI experiences.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 10+ years of experience in user experience, product, interaction, or service design or related discipline; including experience defining information architecture for complex systems.
    • Proven experience with design of AI-powered product functionality: such as AI assistants, agent-based workflows, and/or intelligent systems.
    • Strong understanding of how AI system behavior impacts user mental models, trust, and adoption.
    • Track record of defining experience architecture and influencing multiple teams to align behind it.
    • Ability to clearly communicate complex system behavior to diverse audiences, including executives.
    • Deep experience applying user-centered design practices to ambiguous, technically complex problems.
    • Strong facilitation skills and comfort leading cross functional decision making.
    • Ability to translate technical complexity into clear, user-centered structures and flows.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working closely with applied AI, ML, or data science teams.
    • Experience designing multi-agent or orchestration-based systems.
    • Experience establishing AI related experience standards, principles, or design systems.
    • Experience in complex professional software (CAD, manufacturing, engineering, or similar domains).

    The Ideal Candidate

You think in systems and structures. You care about how interfaces look and behave as well as how the information behind them is organized, named, and revealed over time. You’ve designed AI or intelligent systems where information architecture was essential to making the experience usable, and you know how to balance flexibility with clarity.
